There is a little button on the back of your router that will reset the router's configuration.
Press the "reset" button (maybe with a paper clip) for 5 to 10 seconds. Be sure you feel it click in with ease. You sort of have to keep the paper clip very straight.
Now, once you have reset the router, it should configure itself properly. If you are using certain types of DSL (not cable, ATT or Verizon DSL), you may need to do advanced configuration by calling your DSL company.
If you reset and still find you have no connectivity, try one of the following:
-Ensure your Modem (cable or DSL company provide this) is plugged into the "WAN" port on your router.
-Try a different cable from the Modem to the Router
-On your computer run "cmd" in the start menu (or from Start Menu > All Programs >Accessories > Command prompt) and type the following commands and wait between each for output
ipconfig/release
ipconfig/renew
flushdns
ipconfig/all
You should now see a bunch of info spit back at you, look for IPV4 address. This should be 192.168.1.*** where *** is usually 101 or something. IF you do not see 192.168.1.*** then you can confidently say that you need to call your cable company.
That covers everything! :) Good luck.

Hey! thank you so much for your help!!
u see this is the situation, a neighbor and I kinda share his internet connection, he lives in the first floor and I live in the fifth floor so there is a looong ethernet cable that goes from his department to the sixth floor and it gets to a trendnet router (which its a really simple one) from where another ethernet cable comes to a router DLINK in my department which is from where I get my internet conection which is usually wireless. ok so I just bought this TPLINK WR941DN router so I can also get internet in the second floor of my house (which would be the sixth floor of the building). the problem is that when i connected the new router and tried to install it, everything was ok until the last part of the installing process which had two steps:
1) configurating the router (this one is fine)
2) cheking router new configuration ( here is the #@%@#$ error... i keep getting this mistake that says that it was unnable to finish this step)
well ... i can connect to the router (with the username and the password that I use) but i cant acces to the internet conection

Keep it as static IP. your problem seems a little unclear but ill try to help.
try connecting again, if it fails then click on the "diagnose a problem" button. this will either fix or tell you whats wrong with the connection.
or plug your pc with ethernet into the router, then go into your browser and type 192.168.1.1 in the adress bar.
a log in screen will pop up, the username and password should be "admin"
once your logged in change your encryption type. try switching it to WEP. then unplug your pc and go back to wireless. if it works then keep it the way it is.
if it doesnt feel free to email me @ [email protected]
