My kid has a Satellite L305-S5918 computer .She tells me when you turn it on ,it goes to a blue screen and says to insert a driver recovery disc . Her and her fiance have been on Limewire downloading movies/music without scanning them for viruses first. I know I'll need a vista recovery disc, a bart pe disc to find the viruses and to get rid of the virus. I also have a genuine copy of windows 7 to put on it . I know a lot about computers but sometimes need help myself. What is the problem with it when it says" insert recovery driver disc ?

If there still need the data on there computer then you will need to try and recover it.
I would say just install a new copy of windows and start fresh.

I would just backup all your data and reformat off of the recovery disc.

Microsoft Windows 7

To my knowledge a recovery disc allows you to reformat the hard drive and install windows with all the drivers and crapware the company puts on the computers when you buy them. If you have a copy of windows 7 I would say you best bet is back all important data up, boot off the windows 7 disc delete all hard drive partitions, create a new one (or two if you want a separate data partition) and install windows on the partition. As you said you know a lot about computers I responded so but if you are confused you can go here http://windows.microsoft.com/en-CA/windows7/Installing-and-reinstalling-Windows-7 and select the Using the Custom installation option and formatting the hard disk drop down.

If you intend on installing Windows 7 on the computer, your best bet would be to do a fresh install, formatting the hard drive. This will make sure the computer is completely clean and virus free before installing Windows 7. This can be done by booting the Windows 7 disk and selecting format before installing.
Thank you.

In this instance I would be tempted to ignore the driver recovery disc option but would probably tell the bios to boot from CD first and boot it directly to the BART PE disk or even better HIREN cd.

Clean up and if you have it on a network of any description or have an external hard drive then back up data you may want to keep.

You then have two options in that you could do a full system restore as the toshiba does have that facility during boot. (F8) then select the recovery options and that is why i sugest getting data off first.

OR you could use your WIN 7 disk and do a full re-build. In which case you should nip over to the toshibe site and get the drivers and put them on a USB stick as it is very possible that the windows 7 install may require some of them during the build and you would have to insert the USB stick and point it to the drivers (may get a little fiddly but it always works)

win 7 may want the drivers for SATA hard drives is the usual problem so it would maybe depend on which build of windows 7 you have as to neededing the sata drivers.
aother option would be to turn the sata setting in the bios to compatible to try scoot past that stage. but it does carry a small performance penalty

I have a Satellite L305-S5918 laptop computer that when I turn it on ,is saying on a blue screen to insert driver instalation disc . I believe it has a virus,I've got a bart pe cd for that. The person...

Normally computers today have a recovery partition or a recovery disc. you will need one of these to boot the computer up and recover or repair the computer. most of the time its easier to just pull out the hard drive attach it to a working computer carefully copy the files they want or need and make sure to virus scan them and then just do a fresh install of windows on it with a virus protection program as well.

I have a Satellite L305-S5918 laptop computer. When I turn it on,it goes to a blue screen and says it insert driver instalation disc

You will need to insert your windows installation disk during startup and perform a repair when it loads. If you do not have a windows disk then you will need to restore your system from a backup.
Either option you run the risk of losing any data so hopefully you have a backup. If not you may have to take it to a local computer shop and have the data recovered before carrying out any of the above.

My Toshiba Satellite Notebook is only showing a blue screen with the cursor in upper left hand corner blinking.

That blinking cursor is the way in which the BIOS is telling you that Windows is missing - its most critical, core files have been corrupted beyond repair. The only thing you can do is to reinstall using the recovery cd or your own Windows install disk.

Toshiba Satellite L305-S5875; Recovery Error 10-fc12-045d HELP!!

no it is not fried. you just need to find a vista disk and use that instead of the recovery disks. Once you reinstall Vista you should be able to go online for the Toshiba drivers. Make sure you have the windows Vista Key which should be located under the laptop. the vista software install will ask for it.

Need to hard restore Toshiba Satellite L305-S5945 to its orginal state. How do I do that? The Satellite L305-S5945 is the correct product info not the L305-S5941. It is a laptop.

For the very original state you'll need the Toshiba discs. Insert the one that's labeled as needed to restore your system and boot to it. At one point you'll be promtped to delete the existing partition (this wipes your data) and then you can reinstall Windows on the empty partition. If yo udo not have the Toshiba discs, you can still load Windows using a Windows installation disc, but you will likely need to find the missing drivers for your laptop, so don't go this route unless you are comfortable with it.
