Sanyo SCP-8600 (Zio M6000) Silicone Skin Case Logo
Posted on Feb 28, 2011

I recently purchased a 8GB sd card to expand the memory on my zio and it keeps saying that my phone is low on memory and it won't let me download anymore apps or recieve any incoming text messages. Yet when I check my memory on my phone it says I have plenty (full) memory.

Apps are stored internally and do not have anything to do with storage provided by the sd card. You are limited to 512MB of space for apps, texts, pictures, video, etc. The sd card storage space can be used to hold pictures, movies, songs.
To free up space, you can do a couple things. First, you can open the File Viewer on your phone and move any photos, movies or songs you've created/downloaded from internal to the sd card. Second, you can delete apps or text messages to free up space.

You have plenty of memory for media and such on your SD. The problem is that your apps will only download to your phone's hard drive. Delete some apps that are unused or not needed, and you should be fine.

My pendo pad keeps saying insufficient storage when trying to download apps.

Go into the settings and look for 'Storage'. In there you will find an 'Apps' heading, open it up and then tap on each app that is there and look for a 'move to SD card' option.

I got a sd 8gb memory card free with MTS USB modem and it just doesn't seem to work! i am able to transfer the files but unable to open. my phone is compatible with 32gb expandable memory and i al

I believe the phone will need to card to be FAT32 format and the card may be formatted as NTFS. Insert the SD card into a computer. In "Computer" note the drive letter. Lets use E: as an example. Open a command prompt and type format E: /FS:FAT32
That will format it to fat32. Now try in the phone.

How do i change my internal memory settings for LG optimus e400?

Internal memory is different than SD card memory. You only have 800MB free on your phone's harddrive, you still have 1GB of space unused on your SD card. Today's apps are large, some are even 1GB big! I would go and purchase at least a 16GB card for your phone. They are around 10 bucks now a days. Then on your phone, go to your settings and select the big apps, there should be an option to move them over to the SD card.

I upgraded the Android system for my sanyo zio and now i can't recieve any text messeges cause it says that the memory is full and it also says that my phone memory is full eventhough iv'e been erasing...

Hi,

It seems most of you applications are stored in the Phone Memory and/or your application data is taking up lot of memory. You actually don't have to erase/uninstall applications. Please consider performing the following steps:

  1. Go to Settings --> Applications --> Manage Applications. In this Menu you'll be shown a list of applications. Use the Menu Button to "Sort by Size" and get a list of the applications sorted from high memory usage to low (phone memory). Once this is done, you'll be able to view the memory being used by each of the applications. Click on the applications which you see are consuming more memory and then use the "Clear Data" button to clean up the data being stored by the applications to free up memory. This clears up any cache, cookie, temp files associated with the applications. Depending on your android version, you may also see an additional button "Move to SD Card". The best option to get more space would be to use this button and move the application to the 4 GB SD Card storage.
  2. Optional Step if you do not have "Move to Phone/SD Card" option available - From the Android Market, download and install "App 2 SD Free". Once done, this application should help you free up a lot of space by moving applications from your phone memory to the SD card.
Hope this was helpful. If so, please consider rating this solution.

-thanks,
M

8GB SD card says: MEMORY CARD REQUIRES FORMATTING After selecting continue SD card says: FORMATTING WILL DELETE EVERYTHING ON MEMORY CARD after selecting continue it says: FORMATTING... but then returns...

i guess you are using it thru a USB, try a differnt USB port if you have more than one USB port on your PC....else
try it on a different PC
or
a longer solution is to get a low level format software like "killdisk".....this is also a DOS based application....install it and use the in Win or thru a boot diks DOS application

I recently purchased a sciphone i9+++ and it says 16GB but seems

The back cover on mine states '32gb'. that is just smoke and mirrors!
The amount of memory on these depends on the micro sd memory on the inside. My phone came with a 2gb card and I just upgraded to a 8gb and it works fine.

Your issue could be one of two things...

1) you don't have a micro sd card installed or minimal one; or

2) you have lots of memory via your sd card but you are trying to save the items to the phone memory rather than the sd card.

If #2, mine shows as a removeable drive on my computer. you can right click and select properties to determine the size... if it matches the card you have then that should be the one (depending on what other 'things' you may have connected to your computer).

Cheers

Micro card

When I bought the phone I wanted to use a bigger Memory card. I was told it will only recognize 2gb. The booklet that comes with phone says the same thing, so would assume that is why it says full. Assuming of course youre trying to use more than 2gb at the moment.
