It's a convergence issue. Go into the main TV menu under video settings and look for convergence. If it has an auto convergence select that and wait a minute the TV will adjust itself and give you a clear picture. If the TV does not have an auto convergence and just regular convergence than select this. It will give you a grid pattern on your TV and you have to move the cursor (using TV remote) and adjust each "point" so that each line is perfectly white. If you notice red or blue anywhere on that "line" then you have to adjust using the up, down, left and right arrow keys to "line up the red and blue lines with the nearest white line. It takes time and patience to do, but when completed, all lines on the grid pattern should be pure white and you will have a great looking picture. You have to do this will all TV inputs (Video1, Video2 and so on) the reason Zoom looks good, is because you never used that screen as much and so the lenses didn't have a chance to get out of synchronous. RPTV's are made of the three lenses (red, Blue and Green) and as you watch TV, these lenses slowly get out of alignment. So you should do a convergence about twice a year to make sure nothing is out of whack.

You can pay somebody to do it, but may cost you like 100.00 or do it yourself, it is very easy just tedious and time consuming. If you have the auto convergence than your golden because this is the easiest way to "reset" the TV.

yes the convergence problem leaves a shadow of red or blue like an outline around the picture, sometimes part of the screen some times the entire screen.
Most likely your convergence circuit needs repair, there are 2 large IC chips with heat sinks (labeled STKxxx -XXX) and possibly depending on model a resistor or fuse may have went with it. 95% of the time this is all it is. It could cost $300-400 to have someone repair it.

Your alignment is off. Go to the set up menu then convergence. hit right and you will be in the convergence menu. select the color that is not in alignment. The green line does not move. if blue and green are lined up the line will be cyan. if red and green are lined up the line will be yellow. when all three are lined up the color will be light. Best of luck!
You can adjust the lines and make them straight. You can also in the same process, make them line up.
1. With the TV on, press the mute button the remote control so that you have picture but no sound.
2. With remote in one hand (holding it as far from the TV as you can but still be able to reach the TV with your other hand), press and hold the mute button again, with the other hand, using the control panel underneath the screen, press the menu button on the TV set.
You will notice an "S" on the screen on the right hand side about 2/3 from the left, halfway up the screen (If you did this right).
This means you are in service mode.
With the remote, curse right only once and you will have some information displayed in the upper left. The top line is Item, the one underneath is Data.
Press "7." This will display the built in cross hatch pattern. You can move the line around with the directional circle located at the center of the remote. Using the "3" button, you can decide which color to move. To move the curser to a new location, The number pad doubles as a direction key pad. (2-up), (4-left), (6-right), (8-down). To simplify the process, you can eliminate the red or blue or green lines and only focus on one color at a time. "0" will shut on/off the green line. "100 button" will shut on/off the red line. "CH RTN or Enter will shut on/off the blue line.
"7" will exit the process as well as get you there.
Power off when you are done and turn back on.
Repeat as needed.
