Question about Western Digital 500GB My Book Pro-External 500 GB Hard Drive

Wd passport se 500gb wont mount in mac after being connected to windows7. i tried first aid repair but error message said cannot be repaired. passport will not mount and cannot be ejected either. error report said input/output error. thank you very much

Try Disk Warrior to test and repair your HD! It's an excellent sofware! If the problem persist you need to re-initialize your HD!

When i connect my WD passport 1TB USB 3.0 on my television or my car, we can't read it. But it's ok on the computer. What can we do ?
what sort of computer do you have? mac is generally non-compatible with mainstream equip. does the hdd show up at all on the tv? If it does but you cant see any files, try removing the files from any folders, do you have any more info you can post?

My Apple G5 and WD Passport 500Gb don't mount
You need to determine whether the problem is at the disk interface or at the computer interface. Will the drive mount on ANOTHER machine using FireWire? Will your computer mount ANOTHER device using FireWire? This will tell you which machine is at fault. It's not unheard of for the FireWire channels in a Mac to just go bad, and (unless it is a Mac Pro) it typically requires a logic board replacement to address. For a G5, this would not be cost-effective. On the other hand, as I say, it could just be a bad interface in the drive itself. It's up to you to determine which it is.

I have a 500gb WD external HD and is already with for 3 years. I was always saving my DL files and movies in the drive and left only a few MBs of space (i think it was less than 10mb left) a few months ago. Since it reads to so slow, i always disconnected it by unplugging it directly and not clicking the safely remove button. I understand i created bad sectors on this action. 2 weeks ago, i have downloaded a software named "File Scavenger" to get by old videos and movie files. It worked and was able to recover 50% of my files then selected "quick format" as it usually hangs with the longer format type. As I was trying to transfer movies from one HD or my PC to this WD, it is VERY slow! So I decided to format it again using another PC. Now here's the funny part... I tried to do quick format and normal format but it always take a long time then hangs. At one point both worked but when the normal format was almost done, the screen displays "format unsuccessful" right at the end! I feel so frustrated... I don't want to buy another HD. Hope you can help me on this. Thanks! -Juvie
