You will need to get some anti virus and anti spyware programs heres a link to 3 programs that i highly recommend adaware is anti adaware, microsoft security essentials is an antivirus and malwarebytes is an anti malware program. http://ninite.com/adaware-essentials-malwarebytes/

next boot the computer in safe mode and run all of these scan.its always best to boot to safe mode because when the computer is in safe mode then the virus will not be active.

to boot into safe mode as soon as the computer is turned on you will have to hit one of the function keys: ex. f1 f2 f3 most of the the time it is f8.

Install Norton Antivirus. That will fix it and remove spyware, malware and any tracking cookies that are suspect.

The only way to be 100% certain that have gotten rid of a virus would be to reformat your HDD.
However, I would try the following.
1. Download and install Malwarebytes Anti-Malware
2. Run a full scan of your computer
3. Disable the Auto-run feature on your computer. Use this link: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/967715
4. Back up all personal files (photos, music, videos, etc)
5. Reformat computer. This step will vary considerably depending on your operating system.
Good luck,
-Spencer

Install Microsoft Security Essentials [http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials/] -- it is a free Antivirus/Antispyware product created by Microsoft. It will perform routine scans, is very easy to use, and won't slow your computer down.

Hi, My laptop taking so much time to switch on and it became very slow. Please tell me the soluiton for it.

Sometimes slow booting of computers and Laptops are caused by viruses and spywares. Also, a High temperatured Processor makes a computer slow.
Here are some solutions you might want to try.
  1. If you have a installed antivirus in your computer, i suggest you update your Antivirus and then Start scanning your computer for possible viruses and spywares.
  2. If viruses and Spywares are not the problem, maybe your Processor is feeling to much heat. I suggest you use Laptop Coolers like this one. heifentrixx_11.jpg
  3. This will help you cool down you Processor and Laptop.
Hope my solution will help. Thanks for using Fixya!

My yahoo has become VERY slow moving. I wait 30-40 seconds each time I do something.

I suggest you perform a malware or spyware scan. Download spyware hunter.google it.
Run the spyware scan and remove all detected spywares. after that i suggest running a full system virus scan using Kaspersky, bitdefender, or any other anti virus you may have.

My laptop has a virus, how can i remove this?

If you don't know what virus you have, how do you know you have one.

Anti-virus software removes a virus, unless you tell me what virus you have
I can't explain how to remove it manually.

Download two things, they are free,

Avira free anti-virus, this is the second best anti-virus software on the planet, and I am not saying this because a friend told me, this is based on actual testing.

Next, download Malwarebytes, they also have a free version.

Below I will post the links for both, these will take care of anything you have. Unless you only think you have a virus, and it just a windows problem.

It says

Avira AntiVir Personal - Free Antivirus
http://www.avira.com/en/download/index.php

http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php

Look down the page, and you will see the download button.

I you have a virus, this will take care of it, and if you need more help just
ask.

Viruses and spyware slow your system to a crawl by sucking up your resources and cpu. Check out Panda Scan's online free scanner. It's a nonbiased third-party scan that isn't located on your system so you get best scan possible. No virus corruption! Hope this helps.

My internet explorer will not open due to the ask tool bar incured a problem and also i can not uninstall it

You have to scan for malware/virus or spyware. You can try to install this software. It's a malware scanner and remover.

If this does not correct it, you can uninstall ask toolbar using this.

I have a toshiba satellite a-210 laptop only 8 months but it has become very slow to respond to mouse clicks. I am afraid I have a virus

You probably have spyware, especially if you surf the net a lot.

Download Ad-Aware from http://lavasoft.com/

also try spyware doctor: http://www.pctools.com/spyware-doctor/?ref=afl_nenextech

Ad-Aware is a great program for scanning and removing spyware and is free. Spyware Doctor removes more spyware, but cost money for the full version. The free version will scan, but won't remove much without you paying for it. It is a very good program though, and the free program will tell you if you have infections.

VIRUS INFECTION , YOUR SYSTEM IS INFECTED

this is what sounds like a trojan or for of spyware, probably disguised as a screen saver. If you have no anti virus installed download this programme for free http://free.grisoft.com/doc/5390/lng/us/tpl/v5#avg-anti-virus-free If you have no anti spyware programme download this for free. http://www.download.com/Ad-Aware-SE-Personal-Edition/3000-8022_4-10045910.html?part=dl-ad-aware&subj=dl&tag=top5 on the laptop press Ctrl, Alt & delete or right click on task bar to get to the task manager and on the processes tab look for the scrensaver.exe or similair that is running, click on it and press end process. this should allow you to work with windows Install the programmes, then go to system restore tab in my computer>right click>properties>system restore tab and click 'turn off system restore'(this will stop any virus or spyware backups reinstalling). Run both the programmes and remove any spyware or virus. If it still appears you may have to uninstall it safe mode, which is press F8 key on start up and select 'start windows in safe mode' and run the antivirus and spyware programmes again.
