Casio digital camera EX Z40 will not charge (on the cradle) I bought a new battery, thought the old one had 'died' completely. so now I think the problem is with the charger. The USB light functions, but not the battery light. Any suggestions? Margaret Nelson

If the usb light functions, the problem is with the camera. Because it accept the charge but cannot deliver it to the battery. I think the problem is with the charging circuit, because it is in the camera, not the charger.

What type of battery does the Ex-Z40 take

The Casio EX-Z40 takes the NP-40 rechargeable lithium-ion battery or equivalent. If you need a manual, you may download a copy here.

I have just bought a new computer running Windows 7 OS and I can not seem to use my camera on this system. I did install it on a computer running Windows 98 successfully. Do I need to install a new driver?...

Yes, you will need an updated driver for the camera to operate it on a Windows 7 system. Unfortunately, Casio does not list a Windows 7 driver for the EX-Z40. At this point your only recourse to to email Casio via the link below or call them at 1-800-435-77332.

Casio exilim ex-z40 camera lens will not close and on/off button

Try blow compressed air around the lens, this might help if something stuck in the lens causing it not to retract. you can also try other suggestions from the link below. it's not for the same camera but it might help.

Casio exilim ex-z40 camera lens will not close

Looks like the servo for the lens assembly is not functioning.Try pushing down the lens gently until is completly recessed and power the camera on after that.

Wont turn on

same here. i think it is an issue with the dock that it has to sit in to do anything. I'll never buy another camera that has to sit in a dock to charge and/ or load pictures.

Battery not charging

I gave my wife also one of the Casio Exilim cameras. She doesn't take a lot of pictures. But so far the battery has not failed us. There might be a chance that your battery has died on you. I suggest you go to Casio and ask them to test the battery. I'm guessing it is the battery that has conked out. If it isn't then you need to have Casio check on your camera.

Battery Charge error

Hey Lak_69,
One problem I know of is the battery for your camera should be model NP-20 not model NP-40. The NP-20 has 650mAh. I would exchange your new battery for the correct model battery, and see if this works. If this doesn't work I would try cleaning the battery terminals in the camera, and if that doesn't work go ahead and try a new charger.

Sincerely,
Allan
