Welcome jessegonzales
Check the outside vent leaving your house does not have a screen on it.
Take the screen off. Even half blocked and the dryer will not dry well.

Possible solutions

1. Defective Heating Element

The heat produced from heating elements is measured in watts and a normal heating element will produce about 4500 watts of heat. If the heat element is shorted to the case, this will cause the heating element to operate on 110v and use only about 1/2 of the element wire. In effect, the heat produced will be only about 1/4 of the amount that should be produced and the end result is an increased drying time.
The normal method for checking a heating element is to check it continuity. With the element unplugged you can check the continuity from one wire post to the next. If the circuit is open, thent he heating element is faulty.
However keep in mind that the element could be shorted to the case as described above. In this situation it is possible to have continuity, but the element still be the source of the problem.
Let me know.

3.Defective Thermostat
The thermostats are responsible for maintaining the proper temperature in the dryer. Check the exhaust temperature of the dyer and if the temperature is above 150 degrees, you will most likely need to change the operating thermostat.

The thermostat can also fail in the opposite mode. It can prevent the element from heating at all. A failed continuity check at room temperature will verify this condition.

There are some special thermostats that are single pole double throw. These thermostats are often used to control the timer when set to the Automatic Dry cycle. If the dryer timer will advance in the Timed Dry cycle but not the Automatic Dry cycle, then the thermostat could be the problem.

4. Defective Gas Valve Coil (Gas Dryer Only)

If the gas dryer will light once but will not relight until it cools down, it is likely the gas valve coils are faulty. These coils loose some strength when subjected to heat. When they become old, the addition of heat may be enough to prevent them from opening the gas valve when hot. However the coils still work when when cool.

An easy way to diagnose the coils when the burner is not lighting, watch the ignitor. If the the ignitor glows for 10 to 15 seconds but no flame is created, then the coils are faulty. If the ignitor is not glowing the problem is elsewhere.

Recent Customer Symptoms:
The dryer burner doesn't always come on when starting. If the burner does come on, once it goes off if won't come on again until the dryer cools down.

One of these will solve the problem!

New Clothes Dryer vs. Fix the OLD One

If your old clothes dryer isn't working well, how do you tell if it's time to replace it? Here are some things to check before you set it on the curb with a FREE sign.
If it still turns on, runs a proper cycle, doesn't make alot of squeaks and groans, and your clothes are at least attempting to dry, then check the following before you decide to replace.

1. Check and empty your lint trap before each load. If air flow is restricted, your dryer will need longer to get the job done. A clean lint trap will allow for maximum intake air to the dryer blower.
2. Check the exhaust ductwork for lint buildup. If the 4" ductwork that carries your warm, moist, lint-laden air to the exterior of your home is blocked with years of lint and moisture, chances are pretty good your dryer is taking longer than it should to get your clothes dry.
  • Disconnect the dryer power cord (and gas line if a gasunit), slide the dryer forward far enough to access the 4" ductworkclamp at the back of the dryer. Disconnect the ductwork at the dryerand separate to inspect both in the dryer exhaust duct and the ductworkas well.
  • Remove all built up lint. You may need to access underthe floor, or in the crawlspace, or basement to get at all the areasthat lint may be built up. Remember that when there's an elbow (turn)chances are pretty good there's lint in there, so take the time toseparate the ductwork where needed to give it a thorough cleanout.
  • Long straight sections of ductwork can be easily cleaned by purchasing a "webster" style pole brush.
  • Clean the exhaust duct of the dryer but be careful not to damage anything inside your dryer
  • Reconnect and turn the dryer on air fluff to blow the rest out.
3. Remove lint build up from inside the machine
  • Turn power off again
  • Remove the front cover of your dryer
  • Remove the front drum

  • support/air duct from the front of the dryer
  • Carefully vacuum the lint out of the dryer with soft brush attachment on your vac. Be careful not to damage any ignitor or electrical items.
  • Clean the inside of the lint trap duct of sediment/ buildup
4. While you've got it open replace the drive belt and check the pulleys.

If this improves your dryer, hang onto it for a while longer! Most times dryers just need a good cleaning and the exhaust duct cleaned. If you're not satisfied with the results, take it to the curb and recycle it to another family.

Have a Kenmore 90 series gas dryer model 110. 72922188 that won't come up to heat and dry the clothes...Popped the front, cleaned all the lint areas, checked the cycle knobs for proper setting, tub/ motor...

aslong as the ignitor is glowing red then a click frome the flame switch and lights the burner tube and continues to repeat this over then dryer is ok ...... take venting off back of dryer and do a test load .... that will solve if it's a venting problem... if dryer dryes clothes with venting off back of dryer then it is a venting problem ..... from vent tube to out side exhaust... if dryer dosent dry clothes with vent off then u need to replace the gas coils black cylinders on top of gas valve... cost around $30.00 and very easy to installl 2 phillips screws in bracket cap on top of the coils slide off and replace one at a time there is a large coil and small coil and they both come in same kit and need to go back in the same spot they came off in ....part numbers..# 306106 306105 or recheck your model number off dryer data plate and order off sears.com

The dryer isn't getting hot, clothes aren't drying. It's a gas dryer, so I'm not sure why it won't get hot

remove the bottom panel and start the dryer,if the ignitor isn't glowing orange or red then you could have a bad thermal fuse located on the blower wheel housing,a bad ignitor or a bad sensor located on the left side of the ignitor and on the outside of the burner tube, you'll need a meter to check the parts out, unplug the dryer, you need to pull at least one wire off the part you're going to check, the part will give you a reading or no reading it's that simple,if you get a reading it's good,if it stays on 1 and nothing else it's bad.if the ignitor is glowing then you have bad gas coils, bad gas valve or the ignitor could still be bad but most of the time if it's glowing it's good.if the dryer hasn't been cleaned in a long time check the thermal fuse first, pull out the lint filter, then remove the duct that the filter slides into and you'll see the thermal fuse on the right hand side of the blower wheel,it will be a 3392519 or a 3390719,these are the common fuses,if that's good read out the other parts, also if the fuse is bad you need to clean out the lint filter duct, vac out the bottom part of the dryer, then remove the vent line and blow it out if it's long,i use a leaf blower and it cleans the line out,go outside first and make sure the vent is clear so when you blow out the line nothing is blocking the lint from blowing outside,i've seen bird nests blow out of the line.clean it out once a year so you don't have a fire, the fuse won't blow again and your clothes will dry on time, let me know how you make out

Dryer is not heating up to dry the clothes

Hi there,
Well if your dryer tumbles, but there is no heat then you may please check out the following -
1. First of all you can check out for proper air flow - Check the vent for proper air flow by placing your hand over the exterior vent while the dryer is running. You should feel a strong flow of air. If not then check the lint trap. It is located either on top of the dryer or possibly just inside the door. Remove any lint that has built up in the lint trap. Cleaning the lint trap should be done regularly, even as often as after every load. Do not operate the dryer without a lint trap in place.
2. Secondly you can check out the Ignitor - gas dryer blows air through a burner assembly to heat the air. The burner assembly consists essentially of a gas valve, ignitor and a flame sensor. If any part of the burner assembly malfunctions, the result will be low or no heat and slow drying of the clothes.

I have a matag neptune gas dryer and it does not heat up but turns I am not sure the year of it . It is digital

The heat will not turn on for a few reasons or possibly just one
First remove the exhaust duct work and clean thoroughly
Any lint build up will cause the moister sensor to put the burner in check
Also after you had cleaned it and still no heat, listen for the spark ignitor to click when first turned on. That ignites the burner. If no clicking is heard the spark ignitor is at fault. If it does work the moister sensor is at fault instead

Speed Queen dryer burner lights but does not dry clothes

This is a symptom of a severely clogged up vent or dryer passages.
Remove the vent duct hose from the back of the dryer and see if the problem persists. If it workes normally clean out the ducting and the through the wall flapper vent.
If the problem persists then remove the lint filter and inspect the air passages inside the dryer. Also check the exit hole where the vent duct connects for lint buildup. Use a crevice tool / vacuum to clear all dryer passages. If necessary use a folded coat metal hanger to assist in removing lint build up.

Wash the lint filter with whie wine vinegar and then soap and water to remove the dryer sheet particulate matter that builds up on the lint filter.

If the burner lights but goes out after 30 seconds then the flame sensor on the top of the burner assy ducting is bad.

Partial drying

if it's a gas dryer you have bad gas coils, also you might need a clean out,if the air isn't blowing out of the dryer the clothes will not dry,you need to go outside and make sure the flapper is blowing fully open, if it's a long vent line that goes through the wall to reach the outside take the vent line off the back of dryer and blow it out with a leaf blower, then you need to clean out the duct that your lint filter slides into and then vac out the inside of dryer, you should clean it out or have someone come in to clean your dryer out at least once a year so you don't have a fire more so with gas cause you have an open flame in there,if it's gas,run the dryer and see if the ignitor is glowing and lighting the burner, check it again in like a half hour and if the ignitor is lighting the burner you have bad gas coils,if you need more help send the model number located around the opening where you put the clothes in the dryer and let me know if you need anything else

Black soot in dryer

There are several possible causes: a)  exhaust vent is restricted forcing the lint to enter the dryer shell and overheat and/or be picked up by the blower -- you seem to have inspected this b)  check the hot gas inlet to the drum.. on some dryers, lint buildup can occur in tight spots and it will overheat and char c)  ducting is not intact or leaks allowing lint to leak into the dryer shell -- this will occur over time, and all dryers should be taken apart and cleaned out on a regular basis... also, all ducting should be inspected and sealed as needed d)  verify that the inlet vents to the dryer shell are not blocked and allow adequate air flow to the burner assembly -- natural gas normally won't smoke due to incomplete combustion, but..  likewise, verify the room has adequate ventilation particularly if the utility room or closet is very small,  e)  check the drum drive belt, as it gets old, it will release dust and minute pieces which will be picked up by the blower -- replace if needed... f)  verify that the seals on the drum are still good -- replace as needed g)  as 'washer-tech' advised, do a thorough cleaning and inspection... put it back together with all ducting tight and free flowing
