Question about Nintendo DS Lite Console

1 Answer

My ds lite turns on but it will not charge. It's not the battery or the charger. I have tested the fuses with a multimeter and both fuses read 0 ohms. The orange charge light does not flash briefly when I plug in the charger. What could it be? Does it need a new charging port? It doesn't look damaged.

You can try buying another battery, or by buying a charging station that could just charge your battery (incase its the charger port on the ds thats broken).

I already have two batteries and a charging station, I just want to make my ds lite charge
    again.

Contact Nintendo and arrange for repairs, they should be able to fix your DS, if I remember correctly they usually charge around $50 USD

Thanks for trying to help slayerslat, but there is no way this problem is worth anywhere near $50. unless anybody else has another solution, I'll just keep using my charging station.

My son had not used his nintendo DS for some time but when he went to charge the battery, the light shined orange for a short while and then cut off.

I think its the fuse thats the problem. Try testing both the f1 and f2 fuses with a multimeter, chances are that one of the fuses have blown. Instead of replacing the fuses you can buy
a battery charger for the ds lite. search "Battery Charger for Nintendo dsl" on ebay It should
cost about $5.49

My ds wont charge. How do I fix this?

on the ds, after you connect the charger, the charging light goes on? if not, the problem can be the charger, or charger cable or plug.

if possible, test the charger with another ds, if the charger works, then the problem is ds internal, maybe a fuse or another component.

Everytime I wanted to charge my ds lite, the power turns red then it turned off in a second. I don't know where the problem comes, if it's the charger or the ds itself

Hi,

Possibly both, or it could be your battery. Have you tried another battery? or tried the same charger on another DS lite?

I suggest you get another battery or another charger, whichever is cheaper , or try it on a friends.

If your charger and your battery works, then it is your charging port, it will have to be replaced.

My ds lite won't charge.. the orange light appeared blinked

We had this problem with a brand new DS Lite...turns out it was a bad charger. If you have access to another charger, try that first. Good luck!

I replaced the bottom screen in a friends Nintendo DS lite, because she broke it. Then the DS would only turn on for a second and then turn off, the Charger would not charge. After searching on the...

there are 2 fuses you obviously didnt insulate the bottom screen so it doesnt short out on the circuit board look at the one you took out and look at the one you put in difference is one has a backing insulation
did you blob them with solder (definatly not a good thing to do) if you did everything correctly and im wrong try this
the second thing is which every one does they never push the ribbon cable fully home (top and bottom screen) needs to seat all the way in really all the way if this helps give us a tick so to help others good luck

Ds lite charging lite comes on but when i press power button nothing happens

Are you leaving the DS charge until the light comes off? Remember that there are two likes too, one for charging and one for power. If you're just charging for some random period of time (lets say... One hour) then your Battery isn't going to be fully charged. The best way to ensure that your DS Lite is charged is to leave it charge until the charge light turns off. You can play your DS Lite while you are charging (I do it all the time), but it just means that you're just running off of the outlet.

A good test is to charge it fully (until the charge light comes off), unplug the charger cord (Make sure it's secured tightly to your DS while charging), then play for a little bit, your light should be a normal color (green).

If you cannot even play by using the outlet, then you need to
find a charger cord that actually works (You may need to send in the charger for replacement). If the same thing happens with 2 different batteries (assuming that you have two official Nintendo batteries).

TIP: Also run your fingers across the Charger cord. You're going to get a slight friction burn from the rubber, but you're going to get all of the kinks out of the wire in the cord. My charger cord had a similar problem (did not charge all the way, only charged until I moved the DS) but when I ran my fingers across it (pinching) it worked again.

Also check the pins in both charger cords, charging will not work if one pin is missing, nor if any are bent.

Nintendo DS Lite - Not charging

sounds like you've blown a fuse inside the ds itself. Check on the underside of your console and check if it says "5.2v in" adjacent to your charger port if it does then the uk charger is safe to use. But the fact remains you may of blown a fuse. There are two fuses in the ds and are very small they can be repaired easily if you have any soldering skills.
