The black percipitate is common to this unit it is from hard water the heating element is what causes it you can take it apart to clean it or just tap it gently to get the dabree out of the unit that has the heating element in it.

The black particles are pretty common. This is a byproduct from minerals in the water and is normal.
Just clean the tank regularly (with diluted bleach). The black particles will also collect in the steamer unit (the top blue part). Wash this out with hot water (no soap or anything) after each use. If you tap it a few times on the floor of your bathtub you'll probably see some of this black stuff come out. No worries, just rinse again with hot water.
There's no harm from the black particles.

I have two units: one 2 years old and one 0.5 years old. Only the newest model causes the black water issue (both use same water source). Vicks must've changed the heating element coating and inadvertently caused this problem. I recommend reporting it to their customer service number.

How to fill Air Innovation humidifier water tank model A1-KS30U-06C

Here are the steps to fill the water tank of the Air Innovation humidifier model A1-KS30U-06C:
  1. Turn off the humidifier and unplug it from the power source.
  2. Remove the water tank from the base of the humidifier by lifting it straight up.
  3. Flip the water tank over and unscrew the cap from the bottom of the tank in a counterclockwise direction.
  4. Fill the tank with clean, cool water. Do not overfill the tank; leave some space at the top to prevent spills.
  5. Screw the cap back onto the bottom of the tank in a clockwise direction until it is snug.
  6. Turn the water tank right side up and carefully place it back onto the base of the humidifier. Make sure it is seated properly and securely.
  7. Plug the humidifier back in and turn it on.
Once the tank is filled with water, the humidifier should operate normally and begin adding moisture to the air. It is recommended to clean the water tank periodically to prevent buildup of mineral deposits and bacteria.

Sunbeam sul2512 humidifier leaking.

The Sunbeam SUL2512 Humidifier has three parts. From the top down:
Water tank
mist collar
Base unit

If the cap of the water tank (which contains a float valve) does not seal you may get excessive flow into the base unit which provides a working reservoir.

The base unit contains all the electronics including the cool mist transducer. This is a silver disk with a black silicone seal surrounding it. This is the only other place a leak can develop.

Have air innovations humidifier model #WS30U-09A. It is leaking from the base of unit where water tank seats. Any hint as to why

The water source (tank or bottle) sits tight on the platform and there is a plastic form known as a seal to prevent leakage. You need to replace the seal.

Walgreens Dual tank humidifier 2035 stopped working

I've never seen this model, but it would suggest that the unit is unable to function due to either an electrical failure or needs a serious deep cleaning (esp.the part that interacts with the water to form mist.) I would completely empty the unit and clean it, then partly fill the reservoir with 50/50 mix of white vinegar and water and let it sit for 24 hours (possibly longer) to remove any deposits. (Doesn't take much build up to kill the ultrasonic process). Other than that, try calling the manufacturer and see what they will do for you. (Think it's Sunbeam).

Hera stadler form humidifier displaying "no water", despite tank being full

The float switch may have bad contacts or be broken. First, unplug the humidifier. Search the float mechanism for the switch - you may have to remove a cover to find it. Check for continuity between the terminals when the float is in the full position, and again when it is in the empty position (the readings should not be the same!). I assume the float is rising with the water level. You can also manually operate the switch to determine whether the mechanism is working; most such switches will have a snap action that makes a soft click when actuated (you may feel it in the float rod).

Note: the preceding information is generic; I don't know what kind of switch your humidifier uses. It's probably normally open when empty, or it may be a double-throw type, with one contact connected to the common terminal when empty, and the other connected when water is present. It is likely a sealed unit, or it's protected in a box with seals and gasket, or at least a splash guard, or the actuator rod goes into a separate compartment where the switch is actually located.

Our HCM-640bw Honeywell humidifier will leak water onto the floor. If I fill the tank and let it sit without turning it on, no leaking. When it runs for about two hours it leaks bad. Any ideas on how to...

Found a hairline crack in the water canister. Had to locate by filling the canister and waiting for a couple of minutes for water droplets to form outside the canister. This ever so slight crack allowed air to enter the chamber and made changes to water dispensing rate which overfilled the resevoir over time ( hours). The cracks were not visible under 10X magnification without the water droplets.
