Most likely problem is a failed condenser fan motor. pull your refrig away from the wall and then remove rear cardboard cover. you will see a fan motor that cools the compressor and condenser coils. heck to see if the fan is jammed with insulation or other objects. if the motor needs to be replaced you can place a portable house fan blowing int the rear to keep components cool until unit is repaired. thanks peyton

Hot center wall in refrigerator

This is more likely to a defrost heater sticking on and not turning itself off, could be either a timer, board or defrost temperature sensor issue

The strip between the freezer and refrig door is extremely hot. Never felt hot before. It is not the door, but the refrig and freezer itself. The refrig is still cold and freezer is frozen.

The heat you are feeling is normal, I wouldn't worry too much about it. If you start having a problem with cooling you may want to look into getting a repair guy to look at it but many refrigerators will heat up in that strip between the fridge and freezer.

The panel between the freezer and refrigerator heats up - too hot to touch for a while then cools off again. GD5SHAXLT01

You need to clean the coils under the front of the refrig of dust , lint , pet hair , etc . Pull the refrig out and remove the back panel covering the compressor . Make sure the fan there , next to the compressor is working . Usually , if this fan is not working , the center strip gets very hot , and the compressor may cut off , from getting too hot . The compressor can burn out , if the fan doesn't work for a while .

First thing this a.m. we discovered a puddle of water on the floor on the left side of the fridge. This is not the first time....so we are wondering what is causing this? I am guessing about the profile #...

You have a plugged defrost drain.
Unplug refrig. Unload freezer. Remove shelves. Take back panel out of freezer. Use a turkey baster with hot (not boiling) water to flush water in the area of the defrost drain hole until it is clear and water will run through it into the defrost drain pan under the refrig. The drain is a hole about the size of a nickel, usually in the very back center, below the cooling coils. You can use the turkey baster to force water into and eventually through the drain hole. Remove ice from floor of freezer.
Re-assemble, refill freezer, and plug in. Now, when your refrig defrosts, the water will go out the drain instead of onto the freezer floor and out the freezer door onto your floor.

Items in the back of the refrigerator freeze.

is this something that has just started happening? Most kenmore top freezers have a vent that allows cold air from the freezer into the refrig through a vent located on the back wall in the center of the refrig section. if packages are pushed up under this vent they can freeze.

If you have widespread freezing in the refrig setion then a temperature control could be the fault. thanks for using fixya. Peyton..

Outside of refrig/freezer hot

Heat exchangers for rejecting heat to air are built into the outside walls. This is normal. Just make sure you have enough clearance for free air circulation around it.
