Graphics driver I recently installed a new graphics card as my computer was very slow. I'm operating on Microsoft XP Proffessional 2000 with AMD Sempron processor. 1.6GHx,768 MB of RAM. The new graphics card, NVIDIA GeForce 6200, came with a Sparkle SmartInstall disc. Model No. 219 Version 7A. My computer is still very slow. ie; 60plus seconds to open the average program 90plus seconds to open a more complicated program. I use Paint Shop Pro graphics program and PhotoShop Elements as well as complicated genealogy programs, these take forever to move from one screen to another, it's driving me mad. Are there any updates that will help, do I need a rebuild or is it a whole new system???? Help please, Leonie Morris.

Since you're running WinXP, I'm going to assume that your PC is most likely equipped with a P4 processor.
My suggestion would be to get a whole new PC. A new pc costs about $400 for just a basic set up.

Screen going blank for a second or two while video freezes then jumps.

If you have on board graphics try removing video card and reboot when computer rebooted turn it of and refit card and restart when restarted computer should recognize new hard ware and should find the already installed drivers if not try installing drivers again
Sometimes windows does not recognize new hardware until its refitted
had this problem with modems alot and the above method solved it

Graphics card.

For your sound card how many plug in openings are you using on your card?If only 1 is all, than that is why.Try re-downloading your soft ware.If your running Vista, than your problem is that,Vista, just like XP started out ,many many incompatible issues with the operating system that will fix them selves with more time.Secondly your graphics problem:Are you using Vista????
You now have a start ,not stating what operating system your running is one problem.

Too slow

the only way to improve graphics is to upgrade your graphics card and ensure that you have enough system memory and proccesor power to run the game as it should do. If you have a 32MB or 64MB card then maybe you should go for atleast 128MB
