Hi,
Welcome to Fixya. If you need the WEP key or Network Key you need to access the Wireless Settings Page.

To access the router page just open a browser then type 192.168.1.1, the Default username is blankand the password is admin. Go to the Wireless Tab select Wireless Security under the Security Mode you will see there Network Key or Wep Key. The Network Key or Wep Key serves as a password or security code on your network to make it secure.

Thanks for using Fixya.

Grace Digital Mondo Wifi radio - plugged in, found my wifi connection, but when I enter my WEP Key, it just cirlces back to :Enter WEP Key. No errors received, just doesn't recognize my WEP K

Hi
You say that the radio keeps demanding the WEP key for your WiFi connection. WEP is just one of several security types to be used for WiFi. The fact that the radio is asking for a WEP key indicates to me that your WiFi is more than likely set to one of the other security standards such as WPA, WPA2-PSK etc etc etc. If this is the case your laptop and kindle etc will be using the same security standard as your WiFi router. To find out which security standard is being used in Windows 7, on your laptop, click on the active connection in the system tray to bring up the list of available connections and then click on "Open Network and Sharing Centre". When the Network Centre page comes up double click on the "Wireless Connection".
A status box will come up and about half way down is a utton "Wireless Properties". Click on this, and in the box that comes up click on the security tab and it will tell you the security type, the encryption type and the wireless key (click on "Show characters").
If the encryption type is not WEP then the radio will not connect to your WiFi, and the radio settings for Security and encryption need to be set to the same as on the laptop for it to connect.
Hope this is helpful, if so would you please register that with Fixya
Cheers

Hi,

This is the issue with the Wireless configuraion. WEP key you entered is incorrect.
You need to login to Wireless configuration page ie., Router page and check the WEP key and enter the same and on laptop and try again. It will solve your problem.

Note: To perform this step, internet cables should be connected to both router and Laptop.

Thank you

I need help finding my WEP key

what you do is go on your laptop or computer then go on the internet and type your ip address on the web search where you type google. Then you will be on your wireless setup web page put your connection name down on the first one then the second bar will ask you for your wep key put down any think then the last bar put down your password then click apply. after that go on your connection click connect or disconnect then click your connection name a thing will pop up it will say passphrase and securitykey type your wep key in it and then your laptop or computer would be working again. And that is how you find your wep key

Cannot connect to my D-Link AirPlus Xtreme G DI-624 wirelessly

In case like this one sometimes it is best to reset the password then try to connect each of the devices.

The D Link 6 series router where good but a little tempermental at times. Also you could check the Dlink site for new firmware as from time to time manufacturers make improvements even after the product has been to market.

Wireless Internet through 2Wire router not working

First of all change your router to WPA rather than WEP. WEP is easily cracked now and is not secure. That might be what your laptop is looking at.

Secondly, update the wireless drivers to the current version from the website.

Make sure your router is broadcasting on 'auto' (802.11a/b/g, and N if supported), It ay be broadcasting only on, say 11g and your laptop doesn't support it. Updating the wireless drivers may also fix this.

WEP key fro netgear DG834G v3 WIRELESS ROUTER/MODEM

Okay, first you will need to access your router (usually 192.168.0.1 or something like that) you will be asked for a user name and password. (admin password respectively if you never set these up previously)

From there you would click on Wireless Settings and scroll down to WEP Key. Whatever is typed in Key 1 is your WEP key. Write that down. Plug in those numbers for your printer and you should be go to go.

Connecting issues with wireless mode on WRT54G2

  1. Try to disable WEP in the router and check if the wireless computer will be able to connect to the router and Internet.
  2. Then enable WEP again. If the same problem happens, upgrade the firmware of your router.
  3. Click on the link for the lastest firmware available for your router.

Two Questions Connecting with Belkin Wireless Router...

To answer the first question, please provide what kind of operating system you are using, and please provide the exact error message. Its probably just a caution/nag that you don't really have to worry about, but if you provide more information then so can we.
For the second question, you will need to setup the WEP on the laptop to get the laptop to connect to the router via wireless, regardless if it was used to setup the router, the wireless network is encrypted so it will need to be accessed by a computer(s) that have the key programmed into them. You can plug in the laptop into the hardwire Ethernet port for configuration, that is another option.
