Trekstor DataStation maxi m.u 500GB stopped working :'(

Hello, I've been using my trekstor last night putting on 1G worth of information on it. Today I turned it on finding that it is showing on My Computer as a Local Disk but won't identify it as itself properly. I go to click on it making sure my information is still on it but it says it is not accessible, "Error performing inpage operation."

Please and thank you for helping.

Hey thanks for trying to help me by suggesting that idea, ozserviceman. But when I tried it everything went fine until the process reached phase 5. It would just say 0 percent complete and not bother going any where. I tried clicking the 'x' button after waiting 2 hours and it said an error had occured so i just pressed "Don't Send". I tried the exact same thing a second time and the results were identicle.

If you could or anyone think up an idea to this it would be appreciated.

This is probably a bad sector on your hard disk. Connect it up and try this:
1. Start > Run > type in cmd then click OK to get a command prompt.
2. Type in chkdsk e: /r (replace e: with the drive letter of your external hard drive).

Hi Mango time. Phase 5 is the checking of the free or empty space on the hard drive. If it is failing to test then that tells me that one or more sectors are corrupt. The infinite time delay is chkdsk trying to map this/ese sectors out of the file table - without success it would seem. It may be possible to extract any data if you put in a pc as a non booting one (2nd drive or external). Another option worth a try is to Ghost the drive but only backing up data, not free space.
Other data recovery programs may also be able to extract data to another drive. You might have to try a number of them.
    Good luck.

I dropped my TrekStor DataStation maxi g.u - 3.5"

Hello

You need to understand that a hard drive is very similar to glass, if you drop it, its done for, and it breaks.

contact a data recovery service if you had something of importance in the drive, you will not be able to recover anything out from it yourself if you really dropped it.

they break, they can break even if the case falls over on it self on the table.

let me know if you have any other questions.

Thanks.

I have a Trekstor 160gb external hard drive just stoppede working. I can hear a very loud rattling noise how do i fix it. Please help

If it's making rattling noises, it's failing (or failed). The only repair is a new drive.

Sorry for the bad news...hope that's helpful, however.

How do I use the network resouce to fix my problem?

Connect the Trekstor to your network, and be sure that it has an IP-address.

On Windows, click Start
Click Run
Type \\192.168.xxx.yyy
where this is the IP-address assigned to the Trekstor.
The windows that opens will be a window onto the Trekstor's files.

Datastation m.u stopped working : (

Hi,

Dropping a drive can be catastophic but usually isn't.

I suspect you may get lucky and find out it's just some of the circuitry in the trekstor shell that is damaged.

Take the Trekstor unit to your nearest PC shop and ask the technicians there to remove the Hard Drive and put it in a new enclosure to test it. If it works in the new enclosure, buy the enclosure and your done. If it doesn't work in the new enclosure then you may be suffering from worse issues that will require the help of a pro.

Either way let me know how you make out, if you need a pro for the next step, reply back with you location(Country, State, City) and I will refer you to the closest facility who can assist you.

Hope this Helps FixYa,

Chris

Hi there,

You will need some kind of disc utility.
Open the utility with the drive connected and it should show up in the options of drives.
You should then be able to format the drive.

It should then be usable.

If not take it back to the shop..
