you can try any of these:
1: run checkdisk utility to repair any dumped areas. sometimes you to electricity failure or some other reason some files get dumped.
you can run checkdisk utility by pressing WINDOWS LOGO KEY + R and then enter "chkdsk" in the pop-up window and press ENTER. after that select the drive on which you have installed that software.
(Note that if its in the same directory as the operating system you might be required to Schedule the CHCKDSK on the very next RESTART)

2>Alternatively uninstall the software and then re-install a fresh copy and then try to update

In conficker.c has already gotten into the registry .. try doing a system restore ..

this is definetly a virus or a spyware......i suggest you to use kaspersky internet security 7.0.1.325 antirus.....you just unistall norton and use this.....as till date this has highest detection rate of antivirus.....mostly your problem will be solved with this....by just scanning with this antivirus your virus or spyware will be detected.....but i suggest to use spyware doctor software separately for spyware......some spyware will not be detected by kaspersky itself.....but dont worry....if you scan with spyware doctor software....your spyware will be detected 100% by spyware doctor.....but please before scanning using both....please update both kaspersky and spyware doctor software.....otherwise it will not be detected.....you can use both simultaneously......no problem will come......i am a software engineer and i have experience in this.....thats why suggesting this idea.....try this...this will 100% solve your problem....

download spyware doctor using above link...it is a rar file....after downloading....you have to extract it....for extraction it will ask for password....for that you give the above....in that a crack will be there.....there will be instructions....how to use the crack.....after cracking....you can update it without any problem......

Ad-Aware is a great program for scanning and removing spyware and is free. Spyware Doctor removes more spyware, but cost money for the full version. The free version will scan, but won't remove much without you paying for it. It is a very good program though, and the free program will tell you if you have infections.
