When I turn on my computer and monitor, the monitor displays "Controls Locked" in a small box once. And whenever I try to adjust brightness or contrast, it keep displaying "controls locked.

Not sure if this is exactly the same as yours your model hard to find I had 2 similar monitors at previous employer and they both operated the same way Taking a Look 1. Power Switch Pressing this button turns the display system power on or off. 2. Menu/Select ? Pressing this button pops up the OSD menus on the screen, and used to select ("Up" direction) the OSD control options on the screen. ? Select the screen. 4. + This button is used to increase the value of the selected OSD control option. 5. 0 This button is used to decrease the value of the selected OSD control option. Quick Adjustment Function When the OSD Menu is not active, the following functions are available for the quick adjustment. Pressing ? button once pops up the OSD Function Main Menu . Pressing ? button once pops up the small Brightness icon. Use +or 0button to adjust the Brightness level. Pressing + button once pops up the small Volume icon. Use +or 0 button to adjust the Volume level.

Adjust your monitor's brightness and contrast

You can adjust the brightness and contrast of your monitor to improve the readability of text and to make digital pictures appear more like they'll look when printed.

To improve the results when adjusting the brightness and contrast settings for your display, use Display Color Calibration. (Display Color Calibration helps you adjust these color settings and others.)

The way you adjust brightness and contrast varies and depends on your specific display.

Brightness and contrast buttons on the front of the monitor.

Some monitors have brightness and contrast controls on the front and use the standard symbols shown in the following image.

Adjusting brightness automatically using adaptive brightness

Adaptive brightness is a feature in Windows that uses a light sensor to automatically adjust the display brightness to match the lighting conditions in your computer's surroundings.

To use adaptive brightness, you must have light sensors installed and enabled on your computer.

To determine if your laptop or computer monitor supports adaptive brightness, look for the Enable adaptive brightness setting in Power Options (mentioned in the following procedure) or check the information that came with your computer.

To turn adaptive brightness on or off

Open Power Options by clicking the Start button , clicking Control Panel, clicking System and Security, and then clicking Power Options.

Under any plan, click Change plan settings.

Click Change advanced power settings.

In the list, expand Display, and then expand Enable adaptive brightness.

To turn adaptive brightness on or off when your computer is running on battery power, click On battery, and then, in the list, click On or Off.

To turn adaptive brightness on or off when your computer is plugged into an outlet, click Plugged in, and then, in the list, click On or Off.

sir, my philips 202E line series monitor has been locked and while operating touch sensitive controlas on it I receive a msg "monitor controls locked" and not able to adjust brightness of my monitor.

he on the monitor you can find small buttons ,, you can just go select menu button from there select brightness section,, all this appear on display screen,, once click on button.. where u can adjust

the adjustment box for colour, brightness and contrast stays fixed on the screen. i tried pressing the exit button.... after a few times it disappears only to reappear within a few minutes. also the auto adjustment option, for which we are supposed to manually press the i button, keeps auto adjusting the screen whenever it feels like it. the box appears right in middle of the screen and is a real nuisance as it blocks out the main portion.

This is a "feature" they include to prevent accidental changes to the screen setup. You should be able to unlock the OSD by pushing the Menu button and the right arrow button together for about three seconds. The message "controls unlocked" should appear.
