Kenmore 95322 Electric Range, Bake/Broil no heat. There was a loud pop and the display turned off. Breaker was not tripped cycled anyways. Display came back on. You can select Bake/Broil but get no heat. Is this a Thermostat issue or am I looking at the control board? Thanks.

SOURCE: GE Wall Oven - No heat (broil or bake)

On appliances like this only the heating elements use 220 volts. things like the clock, fan, etc use 110 volts. That is why some things work and other do not. Start at the breaker, sometimes a double pole breaker will have 1 side tripped, but will look perfectly fine. switch the breaker all the way to off then re-set. If nothing changes follow the power to the appliance remove the panel and look for some fuses, check to see if any are blown. Also sometimes the microwave will have a separate power source even though its built in to the same appliance. So that's not always a good symptom to follow.

SOURCE: Oven will not heat past 220 degrees

Check your bake element, I had the exact same problem and found the bake element had burned in half. The broil element comes on during preheat and kicks off at around 220 degrees.

SOURCE: replacing PB010036 Bake / Broil Thermostat Viking

you do not need to take apart any switches, all you need - unplug it from power, open front panel (2 screw on each side) remove all knobs, there is 3 more screws behind them). unscrew thermostat 2 screws behind knob. open top part of stove, remove grates and cover. you will see wires to thermostat unplug them and plug one by one to new thermostat. remove old thermostat from inside the oven (it has bracket inside). put the new one. close everything back.

Kenmore range model c970-535121. Heard loud pop stove breaker and main breaker both tripped. Now everything functions except bake and broil do not work. Also noticed when push buttons on control panel

Sounds to me like you have a short in the bake and broil section. Check the wiring and see if a wire has come out of an area and grounded its self. Shut the power off when checking this out and you should find out where the short is so you don't shock yourself . Also check for wires that appear like they are burnt as this indicates where a short could be. Be very careful as this could be dangerous. If you don't know what you are doing call a repair man .

Heard a loud pop that tripped the stove breaker and main breaker. Now oven wont work on bake or broil but all other functions work fine

Mike - this is for a stove / range - not a washer - right??

I suspect that one of the heating coils melted and shorted, causing the breaker to trip. Given that the main also tripped, it may be even more involved. Please provide more details - including the make and model of the appliance when asking for more help.

Kenmore Electric Range - Surface heats up fine,

It appears your ERC/CLOCK has failed in this instance.

For replacement parts - head on over to PartSelect.com or RepairClinic.com and enter in your full model number for a full parts listing.
I recommend both sites because ...

FixYa has no affiliation with either site - I have been using and recommending them for years - trouble free.

PartSelect has a great schematic database for locating the part on your unit and great "testimonials" for each part that often times includes HOW-TO information.
RepairClinic has pictures of each part they sell and also a great how-to and troubleshooting for basic repairs.

If your unit has never been serviced - there should still be an original service manual enclosed in plastic taped to the inside of the shell.
In the service manual are Error codes, maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting steps you can follow.

Anything too complicated or beyond your scope should be handled by a professional.

If you think you want to tackle the repair - and have gotten stuck on a step - reply to your question and I will be glad to help you out.

Thanks for using FixYa - a 4 THUMBS rating is appreciated for answering your FREE question.

Electric Dbl Wall Oven-loud popping noise at end of self clean

Bill ,i dont suspect the control unit is the problem im going back to the loud pop you heard I would say the pop you heard was one of the elemants blowing and that the reason the the breaker tripped if you say the clock, timer and light functon are ok it more so points to an elemant in most cases when an elemant blows it breaks the circuit .but the other componants also work when you reset the breaker i think in this case bill i would call a electrician it needs testing, sorry i could not help this time bill, but do not hesatate to contact me if i can help you again.adrian

My Whirlpool Super Capacity 465 just made a VERY loud pop noise and shot out a blue flame. Knocked the breaker off. reset breaker and stove appears to work ok. Should I continue to use stove?

you most likely had a bake or broil burner short out. the unit may seem to heat but it probably doesnt bake right. look at the elements and see if they have a rough or blistered apperance to them. if so it probably isnt working. you can also check to see if both elements are glowing red when they are on.
try the broil cycle and if its ok then try the bake cycle, my guess is one of them is blown out.
