More than likely the Magnetron is bad, causing the transformer to over heat. Or it could just be the transformer going bad. Either way not a good situation. Both are expensive.

Technics SL1210 mk2 loud hum, it's not the rca or grounding cable...

This normally happens when the carts are removed and the amp is up. Its called microphonic-ing. Cheers john. Styluscity.

There is a filter capacitor in the power supply near the power transformer that is open. The capacitor must be changed to get rid of the hum.

Loud humm when the drive channel is on

I suspect the power supply has an issue. Most likely bad filter capacitors. This could cause "motorboating" where power is drawn and supply voltage collapses and then recovers repeatedly.

Time for the repair shop. The parts cost should be nominal... labor... well...

Can I connect my Dual turntable to pioneer VSX D712 receiver. I tried connecting it to a preamp (bought from Circuit City) and then to AUX, but all I get is a loud hum

I presume you bought a PHONO preamp from RS. That should be all you need. Is the TT otherwise functional? Loud hum is usually an ungrounded or unshielded signal cable. Phone cartridges create such a small primary signal that any external airborne electrical noise entering the circuit will be very large in comparison. Check cables and make sure the headshell is locked in correctly on the tonearm. Examine the small cables connecting the cartridge. Dual = good turntables. I have a CS1249 from the 70's.

have someone check speaker ground to the TV chassis. Your speakers are picking up reverb from the Video Signal.

Pioneer Receiver SX-750: Getting a loud hum through the speakers

The hum you hear from the speakers and from the unit itself originate with 60hz AC power. They may not actually be related. Sometimes a transformer will hum slightly and unnoticeably. That you're getting a loud speaker hum says there is an electrical leak or a grounding issue somewhere.

Do all sources produce the hum or, say, just the phono? How about on headphones? Try rotating the AC plug. In those days they weren't keyed with one large blade as they are now.

I'm using the sony dream system (dav-fr10w). I just want to use it to watch cable tv, but it keeps switching over to the dvd function after 30 seconds or so. It's really irritating. i had a dvd get stuck in their. I took it apart and got the dvd out, put it back together and now it just keeps blinking "Please Wait." Do i have to get a new receiver? If so, is there one that is compatible that would allow me to use the Wireless IR? sorry about all the questions.
