Broken Elevator? One side of my brush will not stay up. Could this be a broken elevator? I think the elevator (black piece) has fallen into the machine. How do I get into the bottom to get the piece out and repair/replace it?

  • Anonymous Jan 17, 2009

I had the same problem. The elevator broke and I replaced it,, the other side was fine. But the brush still does not lift up and down. Do we know how to make it work? The one belt appears fine.

Brush won't spin when carpet cleaner is running

see this causes and fix it. God bless you
If the vacuum cleaner brush is not spinning, the brushroll bearing might be jammed. Try removing the brushroll assembly and cleaning all hair, string, lint, etc. from the brushroll bearing. If that doesn't solve the problem the brushroll may need to be replaced.

Electrolux Oxygen Upright 5035: Shut down after 5 minutes of normal cleaning with hose. Power to switch OK with Fluke Tester. Neither vacuum motor or the brush elevator works.(2 different switches)

hi from uk may i suggest you try this ? recheck as you have done that although you have power to the switch ? you may not have the neutral wire feed back to the plug to complete the elec circuit have come across this problem many times and the cause /fault is most probably the neutral wire has broken within the actual lead where/just b4 it enters the hand lever on the upright this area issubject to excessive bending/pulling of wire also kinking if you have a test screwdriver ? and a switched plug? you can check the neutral wire is completing curcuit back to plug with screwdriver tothe neutral pin of plug if no live ?and switch is on ? then you can either find break in wire or renew the cable with longer length to reach further without having to change sockets ? hope this helps?

Bissell Shampooer, The brushes will not stay up so can,t push it.

Did this start happening after you removed the clear side pieces, to clean around the brushes? You may have loosened or removed the black plastic arms that hold the brushes in place off the floor. One goes on each side, and is mounted to the Bissell with a silver screw with a built in washer. The brushes fit inside these two arms, and they are also held in position by the black belts. The big one goes around both brushes on the left side as I face the machine. The small one goes around the back brush and a small cog on the right side, as I face the Bissell.

Bissell carpet cleaner brushes won't turn

Make sure you have released the handle, as if you wanted to push the machine forward. If the handle is locked upright, the brushes do not spin.

If they still don't spin, you may have a broken belt. Look carefully at the base, on each side. As I face the front of mine, on the right side of the machine, a small belt goes around one brush and a small cog wheel. On the left side, a larger belt goes around both brushes. If either belt is broken, the brushes will not spin. This can happen if you let gunk build up inside the clear plastic side pieces or around or above the brushes. It's very important to constantly be cleaning your Bissell. The belts can be ordered online and replaced. See your owner's manual.

I have a steam cleaner and i can not get the black arm brush to keep one side up and when you trun on the steam cleaner the brush dose not spin when you start to clean the floor but it will spin when you...

Sounds like you could have an elevator broken (part #2000010). You will have to take the top off to replace them or to check to see if one of them is broke. There is one on each side so when the handle is in the upright, they push againsy the brush roll to lift it up. As for not spinning, chack the cogged belt as well as the cogged pulley on the pump, if it is bad, you will have to replace the pump.

Broken piece

You will have to replace the brush roll, part #60844-5, belt # 61120B. You should be able to get them from a repair shop, get the right one or it won't work right. You maybe able to go eureka.com and order direct.

Rt. elevator arm replacement

Take off the top cover, then you can replace the elevators, they come both sides in a package, part #2000010. When you replace the top cover, check all tubes to make sure they are routed right so as to not pinch one when the cover is locked down. Also there is a piston that attaches to the bottom of the smart mix valve and that the smart mix knob is on the water setting, then put cover back in place and don't over tighten the screw.
