My laptop has a wi-fi connection?How can i have a internet connection using my wi-fi...??? Do i need to buy a router a LAn so i could start to use my laptop. I had a problem like this a while ago. It turned out the fan was stuck due to dust buildup. The computer was shutting off because it was overheating. Cleaning the fan solved the problem.

First check to see that you have known good bandwidth on your internet connection. If this is slow, you will always run into a situation where your playback is running faster than your download rate and causing your streaming software to pause and buffer content before continuing.

I'm assuming you connect to the internet via wi-fi, try connecting to the internet through a cable & see if that helps.

Unfortunately the Presario CQ62-215DX does have problems with poor video streaming capabilities (frequent freezes) and poor wi-fi performance which is probably the cause of your buffering problem.

no you cannot replace the built-in wi-fi card...
if you try to change the drivers for atheros wi-fi to Broadcam driver, your wi-fi card will not function anymore.... but you can always install another WI-FI card in your laptop... you can buy a USB Adapter or a Cardbus(PCMCIA) adapter for this purpose...if you want your wi-fi signal strenth and range to be higher, you can opt to buy an adapter which comes under N standard....N standard wi-fi adapters are capable of connecting at a speed of more than 300mbps(practically) to any N standard device like router....

Install wi fi network adapter driver.
Turn on wi fi switch it is on laptop you can find it easily.
Then you can see your wi fi network in my network places.

be sure that your wifi driver is correct if not or cannot connect of any wireless available.. try to remove then re install again or update from the internet.

You will need to check that the router is on first, then go to the internet settings on your computer, if the wi-fi doesnt show up try and SCAN so your computer will look for it. When it is found you will need to give it a password and then its ready to go

Not much offered at Compaq's driver site for XP. For the modem driver, try the link below, it says it's for Vista, but it should work. If it doesn't then you will need the make and model of the modem, then go to the manufacturer's site or driverguide.com for the drivers, and the same for the wireless, make and model, manufacturer's site or driver guide. To be honest with you, modems are just about obsolete, unless you have dial up at home, you'll probably never use it.

The built - in wifi adapter of a laptop has only a range of 40 - 50 meters, but you could use a separate wifi adapter, an example of which is an usb wireless adapter where you could customize it. Have you ever heard of a "cantenna", it is just like having an empty can where you'd wrap it with foil and afterwhich you could put the wireless adapter in the middle of the can. An example image is posted below.. The can wrapped with foil helps boost the signal of the wireless adapter.
