My Sony digital dvd recorder/player stops recording tv programs a few minutes into the program. We record from the TV Guide - selecting programs in advance. Seems to stop when the first commercial break starts. Seems to be ok with programs that do not show commercials. We have tried resetting to factory settings but this doesn't seem to have made any difference.
This is a new occurrence - previously worked fine. The only thing htat has changed is that we have recently connected our pc through one of the HDMI channels.

1. If your Sony DVD recorder player RDR-GX257's disc recorder has stopped working, don't despair! There are a few things you can try to get it up and running again.
2. First, check to see if the disc recorder is properly connected to your TV and to an electrical outlet. If everything is plugged in correctly, try pressing the "Reset" button on the back of the DVD recorder.
3. If the reset doesn't work, try unplugging the DVD recorder from the power outlet for a few minutes, then plug it back in. This sometimes clears any glitches that may be causing the problem.
4. If the DVD recorder still isn't working, it's possible that the disc itself is the problem. Try inserting a different disc into the player and see if it will play. If it does, the first disc was probably the issue. If the second disc doesn't play either, then the problem is most likely with the DVD recorder itself.
5. If you've tried all of the above and the DVD recorder still isn't working, you may need to take it to a repair shop or contact Sony customer service for further assistance.
Initially, postback the model number of the Comcast digital adapter and the TV.
Offhand, if the Comcast digital adapter is connected to the Sony through a coaxial patchcord, then the Sony would really have to be set to Ch 4 (or 3). Channel selection is done on the Comcast digital adapter. It is not possible to record one channel while viewing another.
The DR-MV150B has both a digital tuner and analog tuner. Since the digital conversion you more likely have not run a channel scan for the new digital channels. Plugging in a digital tuner would work, but is unnecessary. What you probably have to do is run the 'auto scan' feature through the recorders menu. Hit "Home" button go to the "TV" icon and select "Auto Scan". It will take a few minutes, but recorder will scan for digital channels and memorize them.

RUN ANT,CABLE INTO DVD RECORDER THEN RUN A CABLE IN TO THE TV FROM THE OUTPUT OF THE DVD RECORDER YOU MUST HAVE TV ON CHANNEL THREE TO WATCH AND RECORD AT SAME TIME ,SET CHANNEL TO 3 ON DVD RECORDER OR INPUT SELECT CHANNEL YOU WANT TO RECORD AND PUSH RECORD WHEN READY
Typically, there is no video out from TV. You would have to connect the satellite receiver output to the DVD recorder input and connect the DVD recorder output to the TV. Word of warning - digital signals (DTV coax or HDMI) from the satellite receiver carry copyright info embedded, which may limit what it will allow you to put on a DVD. Typically anything can be recorded on the hard drive of the recorder, but programs from subscription channels may not go to a DVD.
I had this problem. I found that when you record from the EPG it can change quite frequently. When this happenes then your recording will automatically get deleted. To sort this out I would use the Guide plus system on your box and then the problem wont occur any more
I have a similar setup. Your problem is because you are selecting the recording on the digital tuner of the TV. When you do this you need to keep the TV on and canot switch channel.
You should make sure you use the digital tuner on the DMR-EX77 recorder and then you can use the TV as you like.
