Half of the Task bar is not displaying. That portion is black. Otherwise display is ok

Have you ever gotten water or some kind of liquid spilled on the screen? The black in the corner is usually a sign that the monitor is no good any longer. Time to replace it.

Spilled small amount of liquid on it now it does not work. Looking for possible solution, ie motherboard.

remove the battery open up the notebook then spray rubbing alcohol all over the computer keyboard and, especially where you spilled liquid; really soak it; wait 24 hours for it to dry; and, try to turn it on with the power supply connected

Spilled liquid on PSP

Try putting it in a bag of rice for a day or so, because rice absorbs moisture, so it might draw out any water still inside. Hope this helps.

Spilled liquid on laptop keyboard, banged on laptop, not working

wow, a little restraint next time :).. My thinkpad was dropped into a hottub let it sit for two weeks and everything except the M key worked.

Anyway I can tell you it's not worth your time, pull the Harddrive out go to tigerdirect get a brand new laptop for around 300-500$ and get a 25$ EIDE (or SATA if so equiped) to USB adapter so at least you can get your documents and what not from the old system..

Spilled liquid

It sounds like it shorted out the keyboard.
You will have to contact Averatec about purchasing a replacement .
Changing them is fairly simple.
Pop out the old one, unplug the wire connector, plug in the new one, and pop it down in place.
