I would like to use my new flat screen as a monitor for my laptop presario v2000. can you suggest a method of doing so?

Use fn+F 4 and fn+f 5. It will work to toggle amove the screens

just remove the ram and clean it and fix it again or you can try with connecting other monitor and make sure the laptop is booting properly only problem with screen.

when turning on the system go into the BIOS and reset back the seeting s to factory defaults and reboot the system .. If this fails then reseat the Hard drive may have come loose or ?

did you recently add new software ? drivers ? hardware?

The first thing that I suspect is that it couldn't locate the right drivers for installation. Still, I'd suggest that you try reinstalling the right drivers for you laptop. There's no harm reinstalling the drivers. Get the drivers for V2000 at this link, but you need to choose which OS are you using: Presario V2000 Audio Drivers. Take note too, that HP recommends that you delete your existing drivers first before installing the new ones.

The method of deleting and reinstalling can be found at Method 4: Delete and reinstall the original sound drivers of this LINK. That link includes the troubleshooting methods for audio/sound problems. You can go through the procedure that applies to you, but I'd still suggest that you do first METHOD 4.

Have you try external monitor? If it's still same, the LCD screen back light or the inverter of the LCD screen was faulty, but yours most likely the inventor of the LCD screen was faulty, it's only can be repaired by components level tech.

for the display you can check by connecting the laptop to the monitor through the vga port

Use the standard VGA cable from computer to the External monitor. after connecting click Fn+F4 keys once or twice. Also there is another method; you can reboot the computer while external monitor connected.

Put another monitor and go to the display settings settings advanced and there u can configure display settings if it wont work so just change the monitor
