I just installed a Motorola SBG6580. I have it connected via Ethernet to my desktop (MS XP) and via wireless to one of my laptops (MS Vista). Both work well. However, I have been unable to connect my wife's laptop (MS XP) wirelessly. I have tried the same steps I used on my laptop. The software provided by Motorola will not automatically set up the wireless connection and I have tried to do it manually. The network is listed in the list of available wireless networks and the signal is very strong.

Try changing the authentication type to WEP/WPA/WPA etc. Might be your XP laptop doesn't support current authentication type. Thanks for joining us. Have a nice day.

I had the same problem with an old laptop with windows xp. I downloaded an older version of Intel PROSET Wireless program (version 12.X.XX) and I changed the AES Key in the modem to be 10 digits only (instead of the default 20-digit key). It worked perfectly well.

    The computer it's a Acer Travelmate 8005 from 2004.

Apple products won't connect to network

May experience is that a lot of Apple products have problems with 5 Ghz wireless unless the conditions are near perfect. 5 Ghz has more difficulty penetrating things like walls than the older 2.4 Ghz. If during the setup you decided to disable the 2.4 Ghz, this could be the problem.

I have HP Officejet 6500 connected via USB to office desktop. I also need print from vista laptops on the same wireless network as the desktop. How do you do it ?

Hi, I just completed this same query this week.

to set up my remote network i followed promts from windows and then had to run my windows xp startup disc on my vista laptop.

After that was complete i had to install the hp printer setup cd onto my vista laptop and connect the hp printer to my router using the ethernet cable. I followed the prompts on the vista as the cd continued to install. then at the end of it all it showed i had correctly installed the printer via wireless and asked me to do a practice print which i did and all seems fine.

I can now print from my vista laptop and my windows xp desktop. I hope this helps

DNS error when connecting PS3 to internet

you could try getting a wifi adapter and creating an access point, you can connect that way if your ps3 has wifi I have a laptop with windows XP Pro and have been trying that my desktop PC with Vista Home can see it.
MY Components:
-Desktop PC with Vista Home (Main PC, connected to Internet with Ethernet to a Linksys Wireless Router B and G).
-Get internet thru cable TV (broadband),from this cable modem plugs to router and from router to PC Vista(desktop)
-Linksys Wireless G/B Router
-G-Card for my Laptop Windows XP Pro and
-Playstation 3 capable of sharing info and use printer

At the moment all of them have internet w different IP's (000.000.0.001, 000.000.0.002,etc.). What I want to achieve is that I can use the Printer that is connected via USB to my PC Vista (desktop) and share files. Right now the only thing been able to do is that my PC Vista see my Laptop but Can't find my PC on my laptop. Anybody, Help?
-When I turn On my media sharing in my PS3, my internet on Laptop loses it while PS3 search and find, then, because laptop lost wireless, the PS3 looses the laptop and I get wireless back. I knowis a stupid setting but tired of workin back n forth. Thanks

Netgear wireless router DG834PN wireless access local only I can get internet on my desktop which is connected to the router via ethernet but I can connect to the router wirelessly on my laptop but only...

With Vista on the Laptop it should be just a matter of double clicking the router in the network settings, vista should automatically configure the connection.
This has happened to me before and this is what I did just to see if it worked, and it did flawlessly.
