I don t know what botton to use to unmute the microphone

There are 2 ways to mute or un-mute the mic:

1. Push the button on the front of the mic
   
2. On the computer, open Recording Properties and go to the Levels tab and click the speaker icon next to Microphone slider.

Depends on what Operating System you have; Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7 or Windows 8 (or 8.1). Also, what HP laptop do you have? does it have a built-in microphone?

You pushed the button firmly on the front of the mic and it stays yellow and no sound? Did you try unmuting it in the computer settings? Maybe the hardware button is broken but you can still unmute it in software?

Contact Shure for repairs.

Hello brat, Have you tried clicking on the speaker icon near the clock bottom right side of the screen ? Right click on this icon and you should see a line for the recording or something to that matter In that section you should be able to "unmute" the microphone

Have you check BOTH the slider for volume control AND the checkbox just bellow the slider for mute?

Solution for Skype 5.0:
In the upper right of the window during a Skype call, there should be an icon of a microphone with a slash through it. When it is highlighted in red, this means that your microphone is muted. Make sure the icon is white to be unmuted (pictures below).



Another problem could be which microphone you have selected in your Preferences. Go to Skype->Preferences... and click on the Audio/Video tab. There should be a drop down menu labeled "Microphone:"; make sure the correct microphone is chosen.

If you go into your control panel and choose your sound, you sould be able to find it from their.

Here is one way to unmute the microphone.
Go to Start/Programs/Accessories/Entertainment/Volume Control.
You will see a Volume Control window up. On the top you should see different items to set the volume for. If the microphone is one of them, uncheck the mute box. If you don't see microphone on the list do this: Click on Options on the top and then go to Properties. In the white box where it says "Show the following Volume Controls" check the box next to microphone and click ok.
Now you should have the Volume Control windows available with microphone as an option. Uncheck the mute box and that should do it. Let me know if this works for you.
