I bought my Midland WR-100 Weather Radio in 2008, from Walmart {Midwest City, OK}. They programmed it there, for Oklahoma County, and surounding Countys as well. It worked the 1st year, continuely as many Counties that year had severe weather, including Oklahoma County. The Weather Radio still make anouncements, once in a while - won't stop unless its turned off. Where can I get the Weather Radio Re-Programmed only for Oklahoma County? This is the County I live in {Del City, Oklahoma}.

Good morning, afternoon, evening or night, depending on the time of day you are reading this. From what you are requesting here, you want weather alerts for only for Oklahoma County? Here are the steps for doing this.

  1. If you need the S.A.M.E code for Oklahoma County, type this URL address into your URL box (http://www.weather.gov/nwr/CntyCov/nwrOK.htm).
  2. Scroll down and find your county name and the S.A.M.E code will be located right beside it.
  3. Obtain your Weather Radio and press the MENU button.
  4. Use the directional up or down buttons until you see the word "SAME SET" on your screen. Once this is seen, press SELECT.
  5. You will either see the words "SINGLE", "MULTIPLE", or "ANY" on your screen. When this is seen, press SELECT if you see "SINGLE". Use the directional up or down buttons (if "SINGLE" does not appear on your screen) until "SINGLE" is displayed on the screen. Once this is seen, press SELECT.
  6. You will see the words SAME 01 on your screen. Once this is seen, press SELECT.
  7. Using the directional up or down buttons, program the first number of the code in the blinking column. When finished, press the > (directional right) button as this will automatically save the number and advance you to the next column.
  8. Continue Step 7 until all numbers are programmed in the radio.
  9. When finished, press SELECT as this will store and automatically save your code.
  10. Press MENU to exit.
If you followed these steps correctly, your radio should now be programmed to respond to only one county. To set it to respond to multiple counties again, follow these steps, only this time instead of choosing "SINGLE" you will choose "MULTIPLE". The "alarm not stopping until it's turned off", is a normal function and should not be tampered with. Hope this will come in handy in the future, especially during Tornado Season, as you state is in the region known as "Tornado Alley". This radio will keep you notified, informed on what's happening weather-wise and could possibly save your life from Mother Nature's threats. Thank you for taking the time to request your problem, read and perform this solution. Thank you for choosing FixYa as your one-stop spot for finding solutions to your problems! Be safe this Tornado Season and have a good day, afternoon, evening or night; whatever time you are reading this.

Need instructions to reset my Midland weather alert radio. Time and channel for Amarilli, TX.

On the Midland Weather Radio WR-100 web page of this website, scroll down until you get to the "Manual" heading. There is a link there (WR-100 Weather/RDS Radio Manual); click it and your instructions manual will come up in a .pdf format. To get the frequency channel for Amarillo, go to this website- http://www.nws.noaa.gov/nwr/CntyCov/nwrTX.htm. I do not know what county you live, so you will have to look at every county listing that has your city name in its group. When you find the information you need, insert it into your radio.
