This is likely a config problem. how often does the msm710 prompt you to log in again - after a few minutes or longer. We can review your config remotely if you like, we also host a Radius backend.. http://prowifi.net

The MSM720 allows 250 guest users. From what I know of networking this should apply to your product as well.

Do other wireless laptops connect to your wireless router, and give good speeds? Do you have many wireless networks, other than your own, that show up when you try to connect? It could be interference from other wireless networks in your vicinity.

How many users can be connect at once?

The router issues IP addresses to each computer that is configured to access the wireless router.. There maybe a limit to the number of concurrent connection, if so this will be in the router's wireless settings.

The HP M111 working perfect until It looses power. After the power loose the unit falls off the network and needs to be reset to fatory defaults

if you are using a ppoe connection then save your isp account user name/password in the modem weather it be a cable modem or a dsl modem and then setup and configure your access point device and SAVE your settings in the device.
if you using a dhcp connection from isp modems then just connect your access point device and setup amd configure your settings and SAVE them as well.
the only thing that i can think of is that you are not saving your settings and configurations. then when you you loose power the device reverts back to the default settings. also note that if there is some kind of "auto-configuartion" in the access point you may want to change that to manual configuration and create a new user name/password for your access point as well. please you MUST be hardwired connection when setting up the access point for the first time. please refer to the user guide for your access point for more detailed help on settings and configurations and how to save them in your device.

Wifi says connected but no internet

hello

To make sure that the ARCHOS can recognize the presence of the WiFi access point, go to Menu > Settings > Wireless controls > WiFi settings and then see what is listed under the section "Wi-Fi Networks". One or several WiFi access points should be listed.

If the access point you want to connect to is not listed, then it might be
• Because the router/modem is not switched on.
• Because the router/modem access point is set to not broadcast its identity (even though it is available for use). Ask the manager of the WiFi modem/router to temporarily enable the identity (SSID) broadcasting. To do so, one would have to go into the settings of the router/modem either by using the web browser or a special application program that came with the router/modem. Search for a setting that has a name something like "Hide SSID" and make sure it is off. Once this is done, the ARCHOS should recognize the access point and be able to connect to it. The ARCHOS just needs to connect once and it will "know" this access point - even when it is later "hidden". The WiFi router/modem can then be set back to "Hidden SSID". In general, hiding the SSID of your modem/router is ineffective as a security measure so you might as well just leave it on.

I am have passthrough issues with Procurve MSM710 Controller. I have to allow mac based authentication for let say Xbox live or PS3 to be able to go online. Is there a way I can define ports (port...

Hi Perry653,

If you do not want to use mac authentication - are you using an AP that supports VLANs? If so - then create an SSID tagged to a VLAN, with WPA security - and have these PS2 type of devices connect to that SSID - then create a VSC with that VLAN as ingress, and disable authentication.

If that is not an option, then your login web server can detect the UserAgent of the device, and do a NOC based login - this is subject to spoofing of UserAgent (but MAC is also subject to spoofing).

Finally, you could disable authentication, and use Tools/Trace to capture the packets that the Xbox uses, and whitelist in the ACL those ports, then re-enable authentication. I suspect the Xbox also uses port 80 (http) and if so, this method defeats the entire login page redirection.

So mac authentication really is the best method. We operate / manage / installed over 2000 of these type of devices, perhaps we can help you with your project.

Slow wireless network issue

Check for Rogue Wireless devices in your area. Another Wireless device running the same frequency will cause trouble on both yours and theirs.

ONLY use channels 1, 6 and 11.
