Your GP338 would need to be reprogrammed to one or more of the frequencies available in the T5720. If you are using the interference code eliminator, it would also need to be programmed into the GP338. Take your GP338 to your local Motorola dealer for reprogramming.

Here is a link to the user guide for the T5720, where you will find a list of frequencies: http://www.giantintl.com/RadioPDFs/Outdated%20Manuals/T56XX_57XX_User_Manual_E.pdf See page 19.

Best regards.

Motorola t5720: Why does my radio show 0.5 watt icon even when i am using the 1 watt channel?

It is possible the manual is wrong where it explains channels 1-7 (GMRS/FRS). When checking on line sources your example frequency on Ch 7 of 462.7125 is limited to .5 watt. http://wiki.radioreference.com/index.php/FRS/GMRS_combined_channel_chart
With this in mind the icon on your radio is correct, and the manual is wrong on page 19. http://shop.giantintl.com/Manuals.asp?

How come the garmin 120 radio isn't compatible with standard Motorola walkie talkies

When programmed to the same frequency and code settings the Garin Rino 120 should match the Motorola TalkAbout line of radios. They are all using the same UHF FRS/GMRS frequencies. Here is a link to the Garmin user guide where you will find the frequency charts on pgs. 100-102: http://www.uky.edu/~jmlhot2/courses/for480/Rino120_OwnersManual.pdf

Why is not possible to communicate from T5720 talkabout to T5422 talkabout?

The two radios share no frequencies in common. The T5720 has the US frequencies classified as FRS and GMRS, between 462-467 MHz. The T5422 has the UK frequencies classified as PMR and dPMR which are in the 446 MHz range.

A list of UK frequencies can be found in this forum: http://www.transmission1.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=23400

Can you use 2 different talkabouts fr50 and t5420 with each other? I have just one of each unfortunately.

  • Yes they will both talk together on the same channels just fine. Most of the more recent Talk About Radios are FRS/GMRS with 22 channels. These radios are FRS only with out the GMRS. The FRS are the first 14 channels in most talk about's as are your radios.

The T5720 has
- 7 GMRS/FRS 1 watt Channels

How to get a Talkabout T5720 to communicate with a

The frequency range and operatngmode of the two radios are compatible. To get the Radius operating on a GMRS channel you'll need a Motorola programming cable and software, OR a trip to a Motorola dealer for frequency programming. Considering the cost involved, the 2-watt output of the Radius, and the 1-watt output of the Talkabout, you would be better off performance and cost wise buying a pair of 5-watt GMRS portables.

Can nice motorola GP340 talk to an FRS/GMRS w/ interference code?

If your GP340 is a UHF model, YES, you can have it programmed to match your TalkAbout radios. And yes, the GP340 has programmable privacy code capability.

If you do not know if your GP340 is VHF or UHF, you can tell by looking the model number, it will contain the following pattern: __H25RCC4AN3__. UHF models will have the letter R after the "25". VHF models will have the letter K.

When you have your GP340 programmed, the power setting will need to be turned down to the appropriate level to match the TalkAbout radios. Both for legal reasons, and also to protect your TalkAbout radios. You will not want the powerful GP340 to overpower the PA (power amp) in your TalkAbout radios.

Radios will not trasmit

The Motorola T-6510 uses FRS-GMRS frequencies the TK-3130 uses 2 UHF frequencies. Unless you had the radio custom programmed to match the GMRS frequencies it will not work.

Communications

Hi,

Yes, but depends on the configuration/setup and programming/frequency assignation of the MTS2000.

To my knowledge, the UHF version of the Motorola MTS2000 are designed to operate either in the 403~470Mhz or the 450~512 or 520MHz band.

On the other hand, Motorola TalkAbout Radio are design limited to operate in the FRS band which is 462.5625~462.7250MHZ and/or the GMRS band which is 462.550~467.725.

So technically, both the MTS2000 and the FRS/GMRS share some frequencies. What needs to be done is to re-program the frequency allocation of the MTS2000 into its channels to match the TalkAbouts frequencies. The other way around is not possible. TalkAbouts frequency assignments can not be reprogrammed/changed. Below are typical TalkAbout Channels/Frequencies.de11c4e.jpg

Hope this be of help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.
