Since the connection works without the encryption settings, it is NOT a driver issue. It sounds like a missing wireless network security setup problem. So assuming Windows (Mac OSX is similiar):
No, this didn't correct the issue of local connection only when security is set. BTW running Windows Vista Hone Premium.
Thank you.
until the security part is fixed, try turning on MAC Address filters. Once it's on, you should add your known devices to the access list. If you look on the NetGear's DHCP status page, you'll find the MAC address of all devices. If you can see the accompanying description, then add that device's MAC address to the Allow list.
Hmmm.... Puzzling. The other articles I've read usually point to security type settings and keyword typos. So next 2 questions... 1) Does this laptop work with other WPA2-PSK(AES) protected wireless networks? 2) Have others been able to connect to your network using the same security settings?
BTW. I remembered I got one of these N600's this summer and ran into the same issue. I gave up after 3 days, and trying 4 laptops that never connected. I exchanged it for a Linksys. My laptop also uses the same Atheros device, but works with other routers using WPA2-PSK(AES) (Cisco, D-Link, Buffalo, Apple). The other 3 were Acer, HP and MacBookPro laptops. I'm used to incompatible wireless device issues, so I tend to avoid wireless adapters with bad reputations or lots of complaints.
