I have the same issue. Garmin will rebuild the unit for $90, but am wondering where I can get a battery for the unit. The IPOD replacement almost fits, but is barely too long. Any luck finding one?I have the same issue. Garmin will rebuild the unit for $90, but am wondering where I can get a battery for the unit. The IPOD replacement almost fits, but is barely too long. Yes, resetting the Forerunner 305 would be just like resetting the Edge 305. If you are still unable to locate satellites with the Forerunner 305, please go to the following page on the Forerunner 305 Main Menu > Settings > General > About Forerunner and reply with your software version and GPS version.
the Gps should be on when you connect to the computer even if the battery is not good
it could be that it overloaded and the fuse burned
I fix the GPS

Yes you can. Go to the Garmin Website and simply email them asking for the price of the battery and instructions on how to replace your specific model and serial number as they changed in mid year many times.
Use a tooth pick to put a VERY small amount of silicon around the entire seam. Put the two half's together and wrap tightly with electrical tape. Test the unit immediately to see if it powers on and off. If it does not open it back up and raise the small prongs that make the connection from the bottom half to the top half.
If any silicon squishes out the sides wipe with water and a rag.
Let the unit sit over night. In the morning remove the tape.
