My 30-55,000 Ready propane forced hot air heater was not igniting so I replaced the regulator , hose and even an new propane tank. Now I can get a flame , but the heater blows out cold air even when wide open. when I turn the heater down it goes out. Is this problem the regulator or thermo couple?

Hi and welcome to FixYa. I am Kelly.

There are 6 things that can cause this condition. 3 No Spark and 3 Spark observed.
No Spark
1. Spark Plug Gap
2. Defective Transformer or Ignitor
3. Cracked Spark Plug
With Spark
1. Pump Pressure
2. Restricted fuel flow due to:
a. Seal Leak
b. Filter Blocked
c. Nozzle Restriction
3. Fuel Filter Restriction

Download this manual:
http://www.desatech.com/techDocs/DESA%20SPARK%20PLUG%20IGNITION%20SERVICE%20MANUAL.pdf

Go to the pdf file page 11 for the test procedure. Start with the "Observed Fault."
You may not be able to check step 4 per isntructions but, if you have fuel pressure is should work.
Read step 5 carefully before proceeding with work on the fuel nozzle. (page 12)
In step 6 Note there is a fuel filter in-line. (page 13)

WIRING DIAGRAM IS ON PAGE 23 OF THE MANUAL.

Clicking on the www at the bottom of the pdf pages will bring up a parts link.

This should get you going.
Thanks for choosing FixYa,
Kelly

Somehow I missed that in your post. My mistake. Here is the propane manual:

Here is your original post. I am adding here to comment:

My 30-55,000 Ready propane forced hot air heater was not igniting so I
replaced the regulator , hose and even an new propane tank.
Now I can get a flame , but the heater blows out cold air even when wide open. when I turn the heater down it goes out.
Is this problem the regulator or thermo couple?

I noted: You have a new propane tank, new tank regulator and new hose. Also that you get a flame but not enough heat.

This almost sounds like there is debris in the nozzle orifice.

    15. Nozzle and Fuel Line

Visually examine the nozzle and fuel line

for foreign material or other damage. If

you find blockage or damage, repair or

    replace as needed.

    Here is the thermocouple check:

    29. Thermocouple

Turn off gas supply. Remove thermocouple

from gas valve. Using a digital

multi-meter set to the lowest DC millivolt

setting (meter needs to have alligator clips

on ends of leads), clip black lead to the

very tip of thermocouple (end removed

from valve). Clip red lead to the outer casing

    of thermocouple for ground. Relight

unit output should be between 18 and 28

    millivolts.

One thing you said is when I turn the heater down it goes out. This can be the gas control valve causing this.

    28. Control Valve

Turn off gas supply to heater. Remove

bottom of base (if equipped). Remove thermocouple

from valve. Using a digital multimeter

in the lowest ohm's setting, place

the red lead to the internal center of valve

    (where thermocouple was removed) and

black lead to casing of valve for ground.

Resistance should be between 100 to 200

    milliohms. Higher resistance indicates a

short in the Electromagnetic Power Unit.

Lower resistance indicates a broken wire

    in the Electromagnetic Power Unit.

I think the problem your experiencing is related to the gas valve or nozzle / orifice.

I have a 40000 btu all pro and it lights but the line freezes up and it starts throwing a large flame out, what is going on ?

Sounds like the regulator is bad or the tank is overfilled. The liquid propane is supposed to vaporize under high pressure within the tank, and the regulator lowers the pressure to feed the burner. It seems that your regulator is getting liquid and it is vaporizing at low pressure in the regulator. When the liquid vaporizes at low pressure it gets super cold.

Shuts off on its own after a short running time

You more than likely have a high temp sensor opening up the circuit when it reaches its limit. It would have to cool down to close again. Either that high temp sensor is bad or your heater is getting too hot.

I have an ES 800 Infared patio heater Can't turn the gas/igniter dial

  1. Check the propane tank to make sure it is not empty or nearly empty. If the tank is empty, replace it with a new one.
  2. Ensure that the propane tank valve is turned on fully.
  3. Check that the hose connecting the propane tank to the heater is not kinked or damaged. If it is, replace the hose.
  4. Check that the regulator and the burner are clean and free from any debris that may be blocking the gas flow.
  5. Check that the igniter is properly positioned and free from any debris. You may need to clean the igniter or replace it if it is damaged.
  6. If none of the above steps work, you may need to contact a qualified technician to further diagnose and repair the problem with your heater.
Remember to always follow the manufacturer's instructions and safety guidelines when working with gas-powered heaters, and to only attempt repairs that you are comfortable and qualified to perform.

Propane not reaching appliances i.e. furnace, water heater and cook stove. tanks are full, what could be the cause.

Turn the tanks off outside and take the regulator off the tanks and the main line and bring it inside and thaw it out the regulator is frozen and won't open. Thaw it out and put it back on and it should work if not you may need a new regulator.
