Replacing blades on Oster A5

I just got my size 10 Oster A5 shaver blades sharpened, and I am having trouble getting them back on. I removed them via the screws (not the pop-off method), and so the little piece that pops up with the blades is still on. For some reason, when I replaced the bottom blade and the top blade and turned it on, the bottom blade was not moving. I know I must have not aligned it correctly, but it sure is confusing figuring out how to get it back on and I can't seem to get it. Any help is greatly appreciated!

I did the same thing and cannot seem to get the blades to move again. I just found a diagram on www.clipperrepair.com so I can make sure I am putting the pieces back in the correct order. Very frustrating that Oster does not put in a diagram with the product.

A5 blades are not made to be unscrewed. Once they are sharpened they are aligned and when you unscrew them they will need to be realigned again. You can call factory service 800-830-3678 if you have any questions. Please just in the future always use the snap on/off method.

I have just had all the blades sharpened for my clippers but they won't cut my dog's fur. Never had a problem before. Can you please help?

It is common to that a Blade Sharpening Service return your blades just as blunt as before, or even worse.
I advise that you try a new Blade Sharpening Service; trying out only a couple blades to begin with.
I recommend a mobile/on-site sharpening service.

Oster clippers blade

John! No Problem!
First put the bigger of the two blades witht the size/number facing down, put the cutter on top. (with the side with the flat side of the teeth facing down) Then put the tongue guide inside the tension spring, make sure the tension spring rail is on the tension rail and place them on top of the cutter. To see which bits these are go to: http://www.sheareaseltd.com/clipper-blade-sharpening/clipper-blades-the-parts
This picture whows the front and back, it differs slightly from your blade, but its same meat different gravy!

Hold all this together with your finger and thumb, flip it over and scre the whole lot together!

Clippers will not cut my golden retrievers fur

have you had the blades sharpened by a professional company, you should be able to get around 25 cuts per blade if correctly sharpened. If you have what about the clippers try replacing the Lever which is located at the drive end and goes from side to side.

My Golden A5 clippers won't shave a knowlegable dog groomer friend of mine said the blade seems sprung from the housing it doesn't fit snug against the body of the clipper is there an adjustment I can...

it seem the hinge on your clipper is worn out, here how you can check it, place blade on with the clipper off tap the blade forward if the blade pop,s open the hinge is worn out, you need to replace it, Now on the cutting part of the blade when was the last time you had your blade sharpen. if it been a while or you can not remember it's time to have it sharpen by a professional.

Doesn't cut. we sharpened, we cleaned, it's

Most likely, the blades were not adequately sharpened. To effectively sharpen these type blades, you need a special sharpening wheel designed for this task. If you have attempted to sharpen them on a sharpening stone or other device or you are not sufficiently knowledgeable in sharpening these blades, you probably have not satisfactorily sharpened them. Often, attempting to sharpen without the correct equipment makes them worse than when you started.

If you require professional sharpening, please see clipperparts.com

I have an Oster Golden A5 2 speed. How do I

There is a small gun-metal colored bar at the very rear, just below the back of the blade. It pushes inward, in the direction of the blade. Push it firmly in and pull up on the teeth of the blade. It should pop upward. You can then remove the blade from the tongue that it sits upon. When you want to put it back, slide the blade back on the tongue, then, WITH THE MOTOR TURNED ON, push the blade down to its seated position. It will click into place.

Run but will not cut

Are you sure you have Andis A5 or did you mean Oster A5 Clipper, if this clipper is A5 Clipper, You need to check the Lever for wear, The front of the Lever show wear on both side, Like white color and is not squad this Lever is worn. Need to replace. This Lever moves the blade side to side fully. if the Lever is worn the blade will not move fully side to side and the cutter blade the smaller blade will stay in the middle with hardly no travel to side to side and will not cut the hair even if you purchase new blades. Also I would like to mention if the Oster Locking Hinge is worn out and don't have the require tension to hold the blade in place the blade will not cut. How do you test the Oster Hinge on a Oster A5 Clipper,
(1) first close the hinge, in close potion with your finger nail try to open the Hinge, if the hinge slightly open or opens loose the Hinge is worn. if the Hinge is good it will not open or move and your nail may just brake your nail.
Many of my customers run into this type of problem, and the problem can be solve easily by checking these parts first.
One more item I would mention here if replace the A5 Hinge make sure you get the A5 Hinge not the Oster 76 Hinge they are driferrent, The A5 Hinge has on the back two wire's sticking out that fit on the Oster Latch for the A5 Hinge, the Oster 76 Hinge would not have these wire's on the back. I recommend replacing the Latch when you replace the Hinge. I hope this helps any body that have a A5 Oster clipper or A Oster 76 Clipper.

make sure your blade is connecting with the drive of your clipper they might need an extra push depending if the blade has been adjusted.
