Question about Zebra S Series 160S Thermal Printer

1 Answer

We have a 160s printer and we had to change computers the program was based on. We went from a dual core to a quad core with more memory and basically cloned the hard drives to accomidate everything. The problem we are having is when we go to print labels the first 8 labels print perfectly with the bar codes etc and after the 8th label all we get is garbage for the labels there after. I am thinking it migh be a spooling issue as we get a momentary lapse of printing before the 9th label continues to print but it is all garbage there after. Anyone else have this problem? We have tired all of the settings and nothing seems to correct this problem.

If your running this printer off a serial port you may be getting a buffer overrun. I'm guessing that your using X on X off Handshaking so perhaps you could fix the problem by slowing down the baud rate. You need to change this both on the printer and on the PC that's driving it.

You will notice that there may be a slow down in "First Label Out" but it may solve the issue. If that doesn't do it then you might want DTR / DSR handshaking but you may need a different interface cable that support it.

Tips for Single Parent Families

The decision to purchase a computer for the first time or to replace aging or obsolete is an important decision for families with one parent, especially if there will be one computer for the family.
When considering the purchase of a computer, here are some basics you should know:

The computers come in all sizes and for your family to even consider a stop, not a laptop. And equipment, which is inside your computer, including disk, memory (RAM), central processing unit (CPU), graphics cards, optical drives and be decisive for your consideration.

Because your computer has multiple users, we first examine the hard disk. The hard drive is the central storage device for your computer. Be used to store your digital music, photos and video collection. Choose a hard drive with a minimum of 750 GB (gigabytes). Think of this as the equivalent of 160 DVD. However, 1 TB (terabyte) of disk space would be even better. Thus, everyone will have enough space to store their personal media.

Secondly, to keep the memory, which is your random access memory. Here is a computer to store programs and data when it is turned on. Therefore, you must purchase a computer or more than 4GB of memory. Remember that if you want more than 4 GB of RAM, a 64-bit operating system (OS), because the 32-bit operating system can use up to 4 GB of RAM.

Thirdly, to keep the CPU or the CPU is referred to here as the processor. This is a device that actually performs the tasks of information technology. When one considers the processor, go with quad core instead of dual-core processor, which describes the number of processor cores can be found in a single processor die. The multi-processor systems is the ability to distinguish the treatment of share tasks so that the workload can get faster. Many current programs are designed to support quad-core processors, and even older programs work better with quad core, multiple cores or processor.

Fourth, consider the graphics card. This is the component that connects directly to the motherboard without your computer can not display images. If you and your children plan to play video games or movies, then you need a dedicated graphics card. Buy a PC video card that offers the greatest amount of memory. The computer will then be able to play your games faster and offer more support for high definition video, such as 1,920 x 1,080 or more.

And finally, the optical media drive enables your computer to read CDs, DVDs, and Blu-ray discs. Nowadays, most computers come with a DVD burner that can both play and record media on DVD. If you and your family will be only watching DVD movies, then you will be in good shape.

From looking at the Datasheet just now, it shows the entire Processor lineup available;

A) Intel Pentium B950 - Dual Core - 2.10GHz, and 2MB of cache.

B) Intel Core i3 - 2330M - Dual Core - 2.20GHz, and 3MB of cache

C) Intel Core i5 - 2430M - Dual Core - 2.30GHz, and 3MB of cache

D) Intel Core i7 - 2630QM - Quad Core - 2.00GHz, and 6MB of cache

E) Intel Core i7 - 2670QM - Quad Core - 2.20GHz, and 6MB of cache

Your laptop uses the Intel HM65 Mobile chipset, for the motherboard chipset,

Nehalem Architecture,

Your CPU (Processor), and the ones listed; are based on the Sandy Bridge architecture.
The Nehalem architecture started the ball rolling.
The Sandy Bridge architecture is evolved from it.

NanoMeter - 1 Billionth of a Meter
Abbreviated as nm.

Architectural size went from 135nm, from Processors back in the old days; to 22nm now.

Plus the Intel Core i processors are a whole different 'ball of wax'.

E8400 or Q6600

personally i have the q6600 which is a quad core processor, all the others you listed were dual core, personally i use alot of programs all at once which is good if you have a quad core, but just for general music, data, and streaming, the e8400 is probably better for you, its a 3ghz processor.

Athlon64 3200+ skt754.. Jetway S755max.. Dilemma?

$100 max.

This is okay for your basic internet usage. Sure, you can play some games on it but it's going to depend on the type / memory of the video card you put into it and the amount of system memory as well. With prices these days, I can sell you a dual core NEW computer for $399 and a quad core computer for $599 with specs that would blow that away. Thanks and please take a moment to give this solution a rating of fixya. :c)
