Thank you, the 4gb single ram chip was not available when crucial.com rated the ram capacity as 2 gig max. Other websites mentioned a potential max based on motherboard, the netbook originally came with xp and 1 gig or ram. So this helps I have a 2 gig now, just like speeding up things and getting the most power out of my netbook. Thank you. Do you think one 4gig ram of the two I listed is better, I mean other than one being a off brand I guess- performance wise?Thank you, the 4gb single ram chip was not available when crucial.com rated the ram capacity as 2 gig max. it prolly has 2 ram slots, capable of holding a 4gig ram stick apiece- for a total of 8 gigs.
however, the largest ram stick they currently make is 2 gigs. your board can support 2x4gigs of ram (8 altogether), buit the most ram you can currently purchase is 2x2gigs (for 4 gigs altogether).
additionally, you have to have a 64 buit version of windows to regognize all 8 gigs if you had them.
a 32 bit version of windows will recognize no more than 4 gigs of ram.
There are three versions of the Acer Aspire One. Look on the bottom of your Acer, and see which model number it is.
ALL of the Acer Aspire One netbooks, have One ram slot.
For the Maximum TOTAL Amount of ram that each model number will use,
The A110 model number uses a 1GB stick, of PC2-5300 SO-DIMM ram module.
The D150 model number uses a 2GB stick of PC2-5300 SO-DIMM ram module.
The D250 model number uses a 2GB stick of PC2-5300 SO-DIMM ram module.
Not to offend, to help. If you are not familiar, with what a SO-DIMM style of ram module is, and/or you are not familiar with what PC2-5300 is, I suggest you buy your ram from Crucial.com
Do you see a metal or plastic P shaped piece on either side of the chip. Gently pull them outwards (away from chip, not up) and the chip should pop up. To insert the new ones, place them in at about a 45 degree and pivot the loose end down.
first check with www.acer.com to see that expansion is possible.
all computers like their memory upgrades in sets, instead of singles(like changing both front tires on your car or truck)..so compatibility among the two is more vital than matching to existing ram cards.
