Some buttons on my remote have stopped working. this includes the power on, DSP simulation, tuning +,channel +, and Shift. All these buttons are on the extreme right of the remote. Pl help...!

Be careful - most universal remotes only control the most basic of functions, volume change, channel change, mute, on/off. They rarely include operation of sources, menus, etc.

U are , no doubt, going to need an original unit for the menu access.
Check for remote on ebay or google.

1. Press and hold down the [White Arrow Up] 'shift' button.
2. While held down press the UHF tuning button (symbol for button is ->).
3. Press + or - to tune up or down the UHF band as required, until the required station is reached.
4. Select a spare Channel Position.
5. Press [Arrow Up] & [UHF Tuning ->] buttons again to store and exit tuning.
You must use the remote control. No tuning is available on TV.

The only 'balance' is to adjust the channels relative to each other with the test tones.

The "Effect/Channel Select" button on the Remote (left of the Menu button), will let you change the level to any channels while listening to a program. Page 22

EFFECT : Use these buttons to increase or decrease

the amount of effect applied in a DSP or Advanced

Theater mode. When the amount of effect is

increased in a DSP/Advanced Theater mode the

characteristics of that mode become stronger and

more noticeable. The scale ranges from 10-90 with 70

as the default setting. First turn on the DSP/

Advanced Theater you want (by pressing the DSP/

Advanced Theater button until you get the mode) and

then increase or decrease the amount of effect.

CH SEL : You may want to adjust the channels when

listening to some sound sources. Use this button to

select the channel you want to adjust.

+/- : Use these buttons to select the amount of effect
in a sound mode and to adjust the channel"

This is a wild educated guess.

I repaired a Behringer guitar amp that had a DSP effects in it (BX1200 I believe).

The effects were on a seperate board and the board had its own 5 volt power supply. The filter capacitor for the 5 volt power on the board was UNDERSIZED and it had degraded causing the 5 volts to drop out of regulation, dipping to 4 volts. This caused the DSP effects to fail.

YOUR device MAY use the same DSP OR design.

Check the 5 volt power with an OSCILLOSCOPE to look for dips below the 5 volt operating point that occur at 120 HZ.

These issues can only be fixed by an audio-tech.

Do a websearch around your area for a repair person

press the preset button on the front panel once then (TV should be on) the on the screen there should be words the likes of (Auto VHF 1 60.00mhz) now the Auto stands for auto tuning VHF stands for its frequency where its going to search the 1 stands for the channel where its going to start with 60.00mghz stands for the lowest signal to which its going to start now that you have understood all that just press the volume up button then it will automaticly locate all your working channels leave till it stops for when does it will start from channel 1 to which I believe that you be able to see the channel working so press the up button on the channel button to check the rest of your channels hope this will solve your problem!

The P.BASS function is only available with 2 channel LPCM sources such as mp3,Divx,cd
and wma. Press P.BASS button and "POWER BASS ON" will be displayed on the screen.
The P.bass does not work with DSP/EQ or DOLBY PRO LOGIC ll modes.
If you press P.BASS in the DSP/EQ mode, the DSP/EQ mode is automatically shut off and the P. BASS function comes on.
The DSP/EQ function is only available in STEREO mode.
Press the PL ii mode button to show STEREO on the display.
This feature works with CDs, MP3-CDs, 2 channel DVD-Audio, DivX and Dolby Digital discs.
When playing a DVD disc encoded with two or more channels, multi-channel mode will be selected automatically and DSP/EQ function does not work.

This looks to be a good hint. After reading the solution "I had the same problem. The fix is actually very easy. Just re-tune your channels in and your remote/channel buttons should work again.", I checked my remote and saw that there was a sliding button "TV/Cable" and it was on "Cable"

I moved it to TV and it started working.

This could be a dumb solution but just wanted to suggest...

Dear Zforce, The Yamaha DSP A1000 has three different options of on-screen display. Try using the On-screen button on the remote control in order to remove the disturbing display. If this fails or if your remote control malfunctions then you should contact Yamaha for further assistance.
