Hi,
Im glad to know that you have enough knowledge and are able to work inside such electronics. I do have some study/ repair experience of LCD Displays/ Laptop displays. I will describe my point of view in general terms.
There
are two parts responsible for lighting the display. First is the CCFL
(Cold Cathode Florecent Lamp), which is the back light and the second
is the Inverter board, which provides high voltage to the CCFL. Either
of the parts can be faulty or in some rare cases both. But in this case I think it is most likely
the Inverter circuit. (Its life is limited and depending upon how long
it has been in use, you can have a better idea - if its the CCFL or
Inverter)
So, my advice is that you check the Inverter Circiut.
Make sure you take proper precautions while working with it as Inverter generates very high voltage.
Hope this answers your question!
