Try the remote.
On the remote is a button labeled CC near the bottom.
Press the button to access a menu to switch off. Each time you press the button it will toggle among the choices.

If the tv has problems, try turning it off and unplugging for a few minutes to reset the EPROMs.
Plug in and turn on. Repeat the above.

If you want to change the size/color of the font you can get into menu mode by pressing the menu botton in the center of remote.
Next use the and > arrows to get to OPTION menu.
Use the ^ and v arrows to get to the Caption Setup menu and press Enter.

I have a Sharp AQUOS LC-32D47UA 32", black box

Press the cc button on your remote control. You want cc to be off. Play around with the cc button to become comfortable. Press it over and over again. Observed that a different closed captioning option appears on your screen each time you press the cc button. Now press cc and when it says cc off do not press the button anymore.

How do i turn the captions off on my sharp aquos 65

It depends on your connections. If you have a an antenna, standard cable from the wall, or a cable box connected with a coax cable u will have to turn it off using the CC button located under the panel on the bottom of you aquos remote. If your cable/satellite box is connected any other way besides coax, u will have to turn off the closed caption using the remote for that device...hope this helps.

Close captioning on HDMI

The TV will not display closed caption with HDMI input. It must either over-the-air (antenna) or composite input for the TV to manage CC.

To get CC with HDMI from your Comcast DVR, you need to configure the cable box. Instructions can be found here:
http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/How_to_use_a_Motorola_DVR/Setup

If you want CC all of the time, this works well. But since you must power-off the cable box to change the setting, switching CC on and off is a real pain.

Your set-up is similar to mine (Sharp Aquos 46" and Comcast DVR). I have the composite output from the cable box going to a DVD-recorder and on to the TV. Whenever I need CC (usually to catch some mumbled dialog), I just rewind the DVR, and switch the TV input to the composite input. Then I switch back to HDMI to continue watching in HD.

Turn off closed caption on input(component) on Sharp Aquos 42"

I have a Sharp Aquos 46" and go a Comcast HD receiver as well, and had the same problem turning off the Closed Captioning. I order to turn it off you need to go into the box user setting by (starting w/ the cable box and tv on) pressing the power button for the cable box then the menu button for the cable box. This will open up the user settings menu. Just toggle CLOSED CAPTION to DISABLED.
