Hello,
I've got a problem with my dcrtrv14 (sony) handycam.
When loading it with a random tape it wil give error message c:31:23.
The manual says something about trying another tape or disconnecting the powersource or battery. I've tried this, so far not succesful.
Should I clean someting inside?
Thanks in advance for your answer.
Kind regards,
Gertie Vincent

If it were worth repairing, as a Sony agent, I would replace all of the capacitors and clean up the board then reset the mechanism and test.
Probably too old being 2001 vintage.
Here is Sony's page for the product: http://esupport.sony.com/US/p/model-home.pl?mdl=DCRTRV280&template_id=1®ion_id=1&tab=manuals#/manualsTab I don't see where it has support for any memory card format. If you can find any slots built into the machine, upload a picture and we could probably tell you what they are, but from what I've read, you're either using the digital 8 tape, or you're streaming over USB to a computer.
1. Turn off the Handycam
2. Remove the battery from the Handycam.
3. Remove the AC Power Adapter from the Handycam.
4. Move the Handycam power switch to the ON position.
Note: Leave the switch in the ON position for at least 15 seconds.
5. Move the Handycam power switch to the OFF position.
6. Connect the AC Power Adapter to the Handycam.
7. Turn on the Handycam.
