I'm using an 85Mbps Powerline Ethernet Adapter. The internet on the main computer (which is directly connected to the router) is fine with no interruptions. However i'm not having a smooth internet connection with the laptop which is connected through the homeplug: i mean the internet is continuously switching on and off.

EOP connections can see interruptions when the power line itself has noise on it. Air conditioning motors, hair dryers, fans...basically anything that can create "noise" on a power line can cause interference to ethernet over power lines. The first thing to do is see what may be causing the intermittent nature of the internet cutting on and off. We moved to EOP over a year ago and experienced the same problem in two rooms of our house. In both cases we found that the upstairs Air conditioner unit, when it was on, was throwing so much noise on the power line that it was interrupting the signal and our wall units would stop "chatting". When the unit cycled down, everything would work fine again. We had an electrician come out and install EMC noise filters to that took care of the problem with the air conditioners adding this noise and we've been trouble free save for the use of a hair dryer now and then.

SOURCE: Powerline ethernet lost connection

this is usually caused by dirty power, have you installed cfl light bulbs recently?
you might also check to see if any existing full fluorescent lights produce a buzzing noise.

HAVE YOU DONE A VOLTAGE CHECK ON THE ADAPTER? IF NOT, READ WHAT THE VOLTAGE ADAPTER OUTPUT IS. IF THE MEASUREMENT IS DIFFERENT OR DON'T GET A READING AT ALL IT MEANS YOU HAVE AN OPEN CIRCUIT ON THE ADAPTER. A power surge during a storm can damage the powerline adapters, in a heartbeat. This is a very strong possibility and you may need to replace the adapter(s). If it fried one, it can fry them both. Was any other electroonics connected to the power outlets in the home damaged? If so, then you may be out of luck, and need to replace them both.

Using belkin gigabit powerline adapter with a wirless router

Try to configure the 2 routers to work with one another when they are next to each other using standard ;an cable. Once working the powerline should work fine. If you try to configure them when they are apart you have 2 things that could be causing problems to take out the powerline to begin with, then when they are working close, move them apart

Powerline data transition speed can be effected by many things. Distance, equipment producing electrical noise on the power lines, being on separate circuits, or even running though power filters or surge protectors can cause slow or failed connection.

Make sure the adapters are connected directly into the wall, remove any electrically noisy equipment on the circuit between the adapters, and try to make sure the adapters are on the same electrical circuit. These things should help.

Hi, I'm an idiot! PLEASE HELP

you may be suffering from mixed Cat 5 and Cat 6 cabling.
The wiring is slightly different and they don't work well when mixed in routers and modems etc. One or the other will work , but when they're mixed it'll do what you have going on here...

I would recommend wiring everything with cat 6 ethernet cabling. Look on your cable and you will find the labeling on the outer casing.
