I have tried literally hundreds of these converter programs to convert to the proper specs but failed. The only program that does it correctly is unfortunately Songbird which I personally don't like. I spent at least 6 days trying all these free programs that others have said but most are limited until you buy them and even then still will not correctly format and transfer. I have tried Handbrake, Format Factory, Any Video Converter, Simple Converter, Quick and many others that claimed to work with the unit but no one worked.

Your player can play video file if its format is suitable. If you install the Philips songbird software you can convert your files with it and the player will play them after files transferred.

The software is downloadable via this link:

How do you down load music onto it?

MP3 players can only play music files in mp3 file format. You can download mp3 music files from the Internet to your computer and then copy them to your MP3 player using the USB cable. For your CD collection, you need to convert your CDs to mp3 music files onto your computer or download them from the Internet and then copy them to your MP3 player after you have connected the USB cable to the MP3 player and the computer.
You can do this using Windows Media player and Rip the CDs - Media Player will create a MP3 music file for each music track. Click on this link for instruction on converting music files to mp3 file format :- http://www.fixya.com/support/r5798418-creating_transferring_mp3_music_files

How do you store podcasts best on a phillips mp4 vibe?

If the device offers the ability to create folders (like rock, folk, classical) that are selectable, create one called podcasts. If not, retitle all the podcasts so that the file names all start with a Z, and then at least they will be at the bottom of a master list when played in sequence. Doesn't help in shuffle mode though, as the podcasts will still play randomly if you can't isolate them to a separate folder.

I download songs from windows microsoft onto my phillip mp3 and after loading 12 songs it only downloads maybe 1 more or maybe 2 or 3 from another download... it's a go gear vibe 8gb phillips

Hi myangeldebra...

I would suggest a firware update may solve this problem.
Your music files are not affected by a firware update.
This update is for all size GB vibes.
You can go to this Philips website and download the latest firware and softwear available for your MP3 player SA1VBEO4 Go Gear vibe.

MPEG: Moving Picture Experts Group
OGG: Short for Ogg Vorbis, a free, open source music format

Philips gogear vibe will not open music folder

HAve you tried resetting the go gear when the fault came in, if not try to reset the go gear. There is a tiny hole on the go gear, use an office pin to push and hold for few seconds to reset,Now the set must work fine. If not connect your gogear to the PC and do a scan for virus or corrupt programmes installed. If so delete, save the listed programmes to the PC and reinstall them back. Use the media convertor software provided when you are converting media files on the go gear or else it will not read or access. Hope the advice helps you. Good day
