If i recieve a call i can,t hear the person but they can hear me and if i make a call i can,t hear the dial tone or person speaking but they can hear me.

when in the call press the transfer button then you will hear a dial tone. Enter that person's extension and if they have their voicmail set up on their extension it should pick up and the call is transferred to voicemail

Sounds like it's connected to a bluetooth headset. When connected the internal speakers are disabled.

Using "on hook" you should hear a dial tone, if you have one then dial a known good fax number. It could also be in manual receive mode. -Carl

Your phone is broken, the only solution is to replace it. Call Uniden Customer Service and they should be able to help you. 1-800-297-1023. ( I'm serious, there is no way you can fix this problem with out opening the base unit up and replacing a bad transistor)

The problem was the main phone line not the phone itself

press the "on hook" dial key. this should let you hear a dial tone. If you don't hear a dial tone, then it is probably the phone line and not the machine. You may have to call your telephone company.

The 2820 should have a handset. In order to use manual transmission (when you get to hear all the beeps and whistles) you will need to load the document then pick up the handset. then dial the number, when you hear the recieving fax tone then hit the start button.

The 2820 should also have a hook hold button pressing this will allow you to hear the dial tone and the numbers you dial along with the receiving fax tone. If you dont hear anything when you press this button then you may want to use the volume buttons to increase the volume.

Also remember that if you have not picked up the handset or pressed he hook/hold button the unit will use automatic mode, which is to say that all you will do is load the document, dial the number, and then press the start button.

I am having the same problem with the same model phone! The line works with another phone but not with the GE cordless. If I call someone with the GE cordless they can hear it ring and hear me talking but I cannot hear them speaking. Silver Spring MD
