Print cartridge is a knock off. Cartridges have printed circuits in them that the printer can recognize as being the original replacement. This is to keep people from using other products in their printer, which I think is foul, since you paid for the printer and it technically belongs to you. Sometime HP will make cartridges with faulty circuits that the printer will not recognize.. If that is the case call them and demand a new ink cartridge.
1. Turn ON the printer. 2. Disconnect the USB printer cable at the back of your printer while the printer is ON. 3. Remove the cartridge. 4. Wait for the "Insert Cartridges" message to display on the message screen of the printer. (You can skip this if your printer does not have this feature.) 5. Disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer. 6. Wait for 1 minute. 7. Reconnect the power cord. 8. If the printer does not turn on, use the power button to turn it on. 9. Reinsert the cartridges. 10. If the printer prompts you to print a calibration page or requests for a cartridge alignment, please do so. 11. Reconnect back the USB printer cable and try to print.

What is a incompatible print cartridge? The printer "Thinks" that the print cartridge, is NOT an original HP PhotoSmart one. Even print cartridge have chips.
I don't have a solution but I bought a C4795 and followed the directions exactly. It would not install onto my wireless and then the printer only showed the HP logo with a blue bar beneath it. There is nothing that can be done for it. It goes unresponsive and is now a paper weight. I won't be buying anymore HP products
To resolve the issue remove al the print cartridges and clean the print heads. Now insert all cartridges and try to align the printer. Click here for instructions to align the printer.
