I used to think firmware but that is a very rare case. try getting a new laser, if that doesn't work swap the motor that spins the disc around but mark where the screws are before you remove them. good luck!

I would recommend a CD/DVD Head Cleaner. You can get them from your local computer shop. It's a DVD that cleans the laser inside the DVD drive. Highly recommended for this problem.
it means the one that wont read is scratched, dirty or defective, my advice is to clean it if its dirty, get a cd repair kit if its scratched or take it back if its defective.
Sounds like the Xbox is trying to find a piece of data that it need to go further and because of a dirty or scratched disk, it can't find it. If you want to verify whether it's your disk or your Xbox, go to your local game rental store and rent a copy of the same game to see if you have the same problem.
if it tells you the disc is unreadable then the laser maybe bad or dirty. try a cd lens cleaner and see if it solves the problem. if it doesn't then your dvd rom will need to be replaced
sounds like your dvd drive is having issues. try to do a online update. that may fix the non reading disc issue. as for it damaging that cd and only that cd i would just buy a new dvd drive. most of the time when a cd comes out damaged its due to a belt spindle. which is the part that spins your disc, but your saying its only doing it to 1 game. try a update if that dont work purchase a new dvd drive. make sure u get the correct one
