I have an ordinary 12 channel garmin etrex GPS that I use for sailing but never had a manual - just a brief intro leaflet I have since lost. Having difficulty navigating the myriad garmin sites to find a manual to download

For the Etrex Legend you can click the page (top right hand) button till you get the main menu, select setup then display. Point the click stick down until the bar on the left is highlighted. You can then move the bar up and down until you get the contrast you want. You could first try clicking the square near the top right and selecting restore defaults, but if the default contrast is not to your liking then you can change it using the bar.
It is probably similar on related models such as the Venture or Vista, if in doubt check your manual.

Go to www.garmin.com, under Products > On The Trail, find your model of GPS (which version of Etrex), and on the far right under the heading "Quick Links", you'll see a link for the manual for that model of GPS.

Most reset would revert the unit back to factory default and therefore may and could erase all user stored settings and configurations.

Having been forewarned, Pressing "up"+"enter" keys while powering up the eTrex will reset the eTrex to factory defaults. So, all pressets and data will be lost.

Additionally, you may be able to do bypass and other tricks using the "Secret Startup Commands for Garmin handhelds".

Is it in pdf format?? If so, use the zoom feature of adobe reader to increase the font size. If it's a HTML page, cut and paste it into Word and increase it with the zoom feature of word.
