If the relays constantly click, your motor is shorted out and bad causing your thermal breaker to trip and open the relays. You will have to replace the motor.

Playback low in one channel in reverse playback only forward playback fine. unit has been cleaned and lubed

Hard to say, but the three leading suspects would be:
  • dirty relay or switch (whatever switches between the forward and reverse heads)
  • bad head (so worn that one channel just doesn't produce as much signal)
  • bad electrolytic capacitor in the reverse-head preamp
None of these qualifies as a quick fix and all of them would require an oscilloscope or high-sensitivity amplifier for troubleshooting.

Click buzzing and click coming from unit mounted to the compressor every couple of minutes. freezer not cold enough. Runs constantly.

Often replacing the temp relay and current relay on the compressor will solve the issue. You can buy what is called a 2 in 1 compressor control... easy to install and inexpensive. It just may work!

My g1 serial no. j31-149828 runs fine in reverse but has weak spark in forward & does not crank, any help would be appreciated.

Hi Larry,
There should be a micro switch for forward and reverse. Look underneath seat directly where gear selector goes through body. You should see a switch to activate forward and a switch to activate reverse. If unit cranks and drives well in reverse but not forward, I would start here. The G-1's I have fixed have this set up. Yours may be slightly different depending on the year. But I would find the micro switch that clicks when you put it in forward and replace it. They are fairly cheap and easy to switch out. Let me know how it goes for you. Good luck and happy wrenching!

Craftsman 21 hp lawntractor model 917.289240 will no go in reverse.

If this is a hydro unit and it runs ok forward there should be no other reason other than linkage adjustment for it not to run in reverse, for safety reasons they are normally adjusted to run slower in reverse

I have a Teac A-6300 that won't go fast forward or reverse but the capstan motor is running

The Capstan motor is just for the play speed regulation so it has nothing to do with the reel motors. You can have an open safety microswitch or maybe a bad relay. It is really hard to say without looking at the unit but I am sure it is repairable. Is the right dummy plug put in the back? This can stop all transport functions if it is out.

CTB1722GRW compressor clicking on for 20 to 30 seconds then off.

it depends on how severe the power spike on the outage was,if your lucky it may just be the contactor,if not comp time, you can open the contactor case and manually start the compressor, use an insulated non-metallic device to do so

The blades are stuck in reverse

I have the exact same problem. In fact, my SPL-1506X is sitting disassembled on the kitchen table as I write this. There is a PC Board inside the unit with a relay that directs the motor to run in forward or reverse. My relay is fused in the reverse position. I know this because the relay's casing is clear polycarbonate. If that relay can be replaced, the SPL-1506X will be fixed, I'm convinced. Unfortunately, the relay is made in China. So much for quality! I located the part no. on the web: Sanyou SME-2110DP a DPDT relay. If you can find it(which I can't), you're in luck. Myself, I'm going to trash the unit.
