I have a Sony DSC-T100, untill now I was able to copy pictures from my camera (pro-duo memory stick) when I connect my camera to the laptop using USB cable. However, recently after my vacation when I connect my camera to the laptop through USB cable, a drive window opens (ealier it used to pop up dialog with options to open folder, copy files etc) but the drive is empty and doesn't list any pictures to copy. I can view the picture on my camera and also when I insert the memory card to my digital photoframe, I can view the pictures. But I am unable to copy the picture to the laptop as they are not listed on the laptop.
The problem happened after my husband took the memory card to the photo shop to take out some hard copies of picture. When we connected the camera to the laptop for the first time after the trip to this photoshop we got a pop up of some kind of virus (dont remember the details) and laptop automatically handled the virus. However, no pictures are listed henceforth to copy. We tried to go to the photoshop to try to copy the pictures from there but again see no list. Please help to resolve the issue. Those photos are invaluable from our trip to Kashmir and Ladakh.
Ofcourse I know that, the camera is working fine except it cannot help copy the images on memory drive to my laptop. However, I can copy pic from camera's internal memory to the laptop. Laptop already has most recent symantec virus protection. And the memory drive has all the pics that are visible on the camera as well as digital photo frame. Now my question is how do I recover these photos, ie copy them on my laptop? Once I am able to do this I plan to format the memory drive.Ofcourse I know that, the camera is working fine except it cannot help copy the images on memory drive to my laptop. Use card reader and insert your cams stick pro duo memory card/chip into it. Then insert card reader into Pc usb and copy your photos from memory stick pro to your pc.
According to the users manual, the camera does not support above 512 MB cards, however I noticed that there is a firmware update which might address the issue. Go to www.sony.com and support, electronics. Put your model number in the selection box and you'll be taken to the drivers download page.
Connect camera with computer with USB cord, power up camera, computer will recognize it and if you installed Sony image mixer software that will prompted, close it, click My Computer, click removable Disk, click folder to open it, now you can copy pictures from computer and paste here but be careful about picture file name should be DSCxxxxx some thing, if you have already changed file names then camera will not show these picture in playback mode though pictures would be on memory stick.
To make things easier, you should buy a card reader. There are different types.
MS Pro Card Reader - Is ONLY for the sony memory cards
Multi Card Reader - Will read sD, xD, Ms Pro Duo, Ms Pro, Compact Flash, Smart Media, etc.
Sony has a new memory stick out called the memory stick pro duo. Your P73 does not take this. The P73 takes the Memory Stick Pro. Which is a longer stick. You can go out to best buy or ritz camera and buy a card reader (Memory Stick Pro) and stick your memory card into the card reader and stick that into your USB port on your computer. Since it is USB, this will require NO SOFTWARE.
Your camera came out in 2004. Vista did not come out until early 2007. A lot of software does not work with vista.
Most laptops that have a memory card reader will only read these types of cards, without needing an adaptor:
-SD card
-MMC card
-Sony Memory Stick or Memory Stick Pro cards
-XD cards
However, you have a MS Pro Duo card, although it fits into the card reader slot, the card is a lot thinner than what's expected, so the laptop won't be able to read it.
You need to put the Pro Duo card into the stanard size MS Pro caard adaptor. See attached image.
Hope this helps.
Unfortunately, there is no way to change the internal card reader in the camera to accept higher density memory cards. You can find the memory stick compatibility list here: https://esupport.sony.com/perl/support-info.pl?&info_id=12 . Scroll down to the Cybershot N Series camera list. The maximum capacity memory stick is 4 GB memory stick pro or M2 Memory stick Pro. For the Memory Stick Duo, it looks like those have a maximum capacity of 2 GB.
Hi, Download Kaspersky anti-virus trail version and update it. Scan DSC-T100 camera without memory stick and then with memory stick. Hope this will solve your camera problem.
