The Philips GoGear Micro Jukebox is a portable MP3 player that plays MP3 files and WMA files and also displays photos. Download music, copy it to the GoGear player and enjoy your tunes everywhere you go.
Things You'll Need:
* Philips GoGear and USB cable * Internet connection * Online music download service * Secure method of making online payments * Windows Media Player software
Download music in MP3 or WMA formats. You can buy songs from many online sources. If you choose to buy from iTunes, be aware that you will need to convert them from the native iTunes format to MP3 files. The iTunes software will do this for you.
Import the songs to your Windows Media Player Library if they are not already there. Windows Media Player can be set to check for new files in certain folders each time it launches, so this might happen automatically. . Connect the Philips GoGear device to your computer with the USB cable and click on the "Sync" tab in Windows Media Player. Drag songs you want to copy to the "Sync list" on the right-hand side of the Windows Media Player window.
Click on the "Start Sync" button at the bottom of the list pane when you have all of the songs on the list. You should be able to check at the top of the list pane to see how much space is available on your MP3 player in order to make sure you have enough room.
Wait while the files transfer and then disconnect the player from your computer. You may have to click on "Safely Remove Hardware" in your system tray (usually on the bottom right corner of the screen) depending on your computer.
Your song (.WMA) are copy protected by 'Microsoft Windows Media digital
rights management (DRM)' and appears to be requesting a license key which needs to be loaded to your player. Solution:
- Media Player will automatically load those licences keys to your player for your authorised music/media files. - Alternatively, remove DRM (for song that you own ...) by some third party
means software (including burning them on CD with appropriate options) - Use alternative songs encoding (such as .mp3) that do not this
protection.
Open Windows Media Player 11
Right-click a song on your computer that you want to change and select "Advanced Tag Editor"
Change the Genre
Now, you must delete the version of your song off your GoGear (the ones without the genre), and then resync the newly-edited song using Windows Media Player.
It is slow and painful, but you cannot make these edits once the song is already loaded onto the GoGear. Also, you cannot simply sync the newly-edited songs onto the GoGear once you are finished with the edits, without first deleting the song off the GoGear, because the GoGear would otherwise think, "Hey, this song is already on here, I'm going to ignore you now!"

Use Windows Media Player to transfer songs and rip songs from CD to this player - the help files below will be WAY more helpful than the Philips manual (but, just in case, you can get the manual by going to www.usasupport.philips.com):
The instructions in these pages, which are largely links, pertain to Windows Media Player 10 and 11 only.

I know that the number of songs is not as much as what the product advertises, but long songs can throw off this total. Open up the icon of the goGear in windows Media Player and find out how much available memory there is left.
If there is PLENTY (I mean more than 100 MB left) of space left, then: Make sure you back up all songs on the GoGear before attempting this solution. 1) Back up all files on the GoGear 2) Open up Philips Device Manager (Start --> All Programs --> Philips) 3) Click on the Repair Tab, and look for a msg that says connect the player while holding the volume + button 4) Disconnect the GoGear from the computer and turn the GoGear off - hold in the volume + button and continue to hold it as you reconnect the GoGear to the computer; after holding the volume + button for up to 20 or 30 seconds, a window will open up saying that your device is being repaired (now you can let go of the volume + button); after the repair is successfully complete, your GoGear will be good as new Now you can do the firmware upgrade that will prevent this problem from occuring in the future. Open up Philips Device Manager and click the Update tab. This problem was caused because most GoGear's were designed for Windows XP with Media Player 10 (which is no longer the latest standard). -Tha Mp3 Doctor
Reset first, and then Repair again using the instructions here - the trick is when to connect and reconnect the device:
