CR74-S ..THE CD PLAYER HAS NEVER WORKED..IT WILL NOT PLAY..IT LOADS THE CD AND THEN QUITS SPINNING

Most likely some dirt has go on the lens of the lazer, so it can no longer see a disc to switch on the motor to make it spin.

You can clean the lens with a small amount of windex and put a little oil like 3 and 1 oil on the spindle motor shaft and on the sled rails. Good luck !

Check the voltage at the terminals of the sled motor. If it is found OK, replace the sled motor. Sled motor do spins the disc inside for any CD players. See the picture of its position.

the laser lens needs cleaned most likely, you can purchace a cleaning disk, or take the unit apart and used a eyeglasses cloth and very gently wipe the lens clean. the lens will be very small and near the motor that spins the cd. when wiping it off, wipe in one direction only. if that doesnt work then the laser has become weak or has quit working

Quite possibly is the motor if it is spinning on and off u need to clean lens or buy a new one!!!

when i load the disc it spins for 5-7 seconds then quits and the poer light, play light and loading light flash continously. model p421

try cleaning the lens first use a lint free swab and GENTLY clean the lens. don't use any liquid on this. if that doesn't work then load a disc and gently spin the disc when it lifts into load posistion. if begins to spin on it's own then replace the spindel motor. if it still does not spin, replace the optical pickup, the EF sensors inside the pickup no longer have the ability to read (see) the disc.

By this time I figure most peoples warranties are expired. So give this a try:

1 Open the case.
2 Turn the unit on and load a disk.
3 On top of the disk transport, you will see a black disk trying to spin as it reads the disk. You might notice that it is a bit quite as the display goes to 00H00M00S. It should be fast and a bit noisy.
4 Try loading a disk again, except this time, try to help that little black disk spin. It might take a couple of attempts, but I was able to get my 2910 working again.

The last year I've had to do this 2-3 times. But it works. From what little I have read, it may just be an issue with lubricating the right part with the right oil. I've narrowed my choices to PTFE 3n1 oil, Lithium oil, or silicone oil.

now I just need to find the right places to oil.
