I'M INSTALLING A NEW REMOTE. IT CONTROLS THE SAT RECEIVER BUT NOT THE SONY TV. IT WILL NOT GIVE VOLUME CONTROL NOR TURN ON OR OFF THE TELEVISION. I'VE TRIED THE SONY CODES TO NO AVAIL. SUGGESTIONS?

I don't show we have a code for the TCL (Australia) brand TV. Below I have provided instructions on how to perform a power scan.

• Remote: Basic Remote (Television Only)
  1. Turn the Television On.
  2. Press and hold the clear TV button for three seconds until the LED flashes.
  3. Press and release the red TV Power button.
  4. Press and release the Up or Down Arrow on the remote until the television turns off.
  5. After the television turns off, press and release the # button.
  6. Test functionality with the TV.
  7. Return to Step 2 if the remote is not able to turn the TV On/Off, change the volume and mute the television.

You didn't specify if you are trying to program the remote to your TV or receiver. Is it a replacement remote or did it just quit working? I have provided instructions on how to program to your TV or receiver.

Address to receiver:
Remote: All Other Remotes

1. Go to System Info screen (depending on receiver - press System Info button on receiver panel or pull smart card out till System Info screen appears on TV screen).
2. Hold down the SAT button until all mode lights light up.
3. Enter a number between 1 and 15 using the numeric keypad on the remote.
4. Press the pound (#) button.
5. Once the SAT button blinks three times, press record. Note: If successful, the number selected in step 3 will appear in the System Info screen under Remote Address.

Remote: Basic Remote (Television Only)

1. Turn the Television On.
2. Press and hold the TV Power button for three seconds until the LED flashes.
3. Press and release the TV Power button.
4. Press and release the Up or Down Arrow on the remote until the television turns off.
5. After the television turns off, press and release the OK button.
6. Test functionality with the TV.
7. Return to Step 2 if the remote is not able to turn the TV On/Off, change the volume and mute the television.

I'm not sure what the remote is not operating on: TV or receiver? I have provided instructions on how to program the remote to your TV or readdress the remote to your receiver.

It sounds like the remote may need to be reprogrammed to thetelevision or receiver depending on what specifically is not responding. Thefirst thing to do when having problems with a remote it to replace thebatteries, as that is a common cause. If the remote is not changing your DISHchannels then you would need to address the remote to the receiver. This can bedone by pressing 'System Info' button on the receiver then press the 'SAT'button on the remote once, then press the 'Record' button. If the remote is notturning on the television or working the volume, you would need to address theremote to the television. This can be done by doing a 'power scan'. First holddown the TV button for 6 seconds, press and release the power button, then pressand release the 'channel up' button once per second until the television turnsitself off. Lastly, press the pound button, this will lock in the code for yourTV and the remote should then work.

Sadly mos households in this country operate their tv with two remotes because so many times the components are not compatible. sorry i couldnt help u more
