I don't believe the GXL2200 has a power switch directly on the microphone itself. Would you be able to tell me how you are supplying phantom power to the microphone?

Christopher is correct. The microphone doesn't have a power switch. It does not have it's own power source (such as batteries). Whatever equipment you connect the mic to must supply 48 volts 'phantom power' to the microphone for it to work correctly. Things like tape recorders or PA amplifiers seldom supply this power for the mic. If you are using it with almost anything other than USB pre-amp that is built to supply the 48 volts then you need to get a "Phantom Power Supply" box. You can find lots of different types by going to Amazon.com and searching for "Phantom Power Supply."

I brought a gxl1200 the sound dont come out

Two words..."phantom power." Condenser mic's like yours require 48 volts of phantom power to operate correctly. Look for a "phantom power" OFF/ON switch located somewhere on your audio mixer or if you're not using a mixer, buy a in-line phantom power supply like this...http://www.amazon.com/b?ie=UTF8&node=11974571.

Mic twont turn on

There is no way to directly connect this mic via USB. It requires a phantom power source, through an XLR mic cable.

I just bought a CAD gxl2200sp microphone and I plugged it into the phantom power converter and then into my computer and it doesn't pick up any audio. What am I doing wrong?

The usual procedure when a mic is not working - check that the phantom power (+48V) is working, then try another cable.

If the mic is out of warranty and you're low on bucks, you might have to fix it. Unscrew the base, carefully holding the body sleeve up against the screen. Then carefully slide off the body to expose the PC boards. Check the boards and wires for cracked copper film and bad solder joints. Two tiny Philips screws will allow you to remove the REAR board for full inspection of both. If all is good physically, start checking components with a multimeter. (if you don't know how, StartPage it.) The circuit is similar to the one below, EXCEPT there is a low cut switch on the CAD 2200. If you find a bad component, most of them are pretty cheap to replace.

Son wants to buy CAD GXL2200sp studio microphone package and wants to plug into laptop. Will that work?

Hi,
for purposes of recording quality, I would recomend getting and external sound card. M-audio make a good range. You would need to have a +48v phantom power supply for this unit to work. The sound card you buy should have this. A Pc or laptop won't

Can I connect a CAD GXL2200SP Condenser Mic to a computer?

Technically, you can plug any microphone into a computer via an audio interface or USB(if applicable) With this mic it will require an audio interface just remember that since you are using a condenser you will need an interface that can supply phantom power. Good Luck, Cody J.

I just ordered the mic, but im not sure what to plug it into... or what kind of cables it needs. can you help me?

You'll need a pre-amplifier, mixer board, or audio interface which can supply "phantom power" to the mic. The mic will not provide a signal without phantom power.

Next, you will need "XLR" microphone cable. These cables have three-prong shielded connectors on the ends, which keep electric noise to a minimum. You don't need fancy ones - the plain Jane store brand cables will work fine.

I cant seem to be able to record anything on my microphone it is not picking up any sound. Why is that?

your CAD mic is a condensor mic and needs phantom power. If you don't have that it won't work. If you need phantom power you can get it from a small mixer. We here at proline carry some small multi channel mixers that have phantom power in them. call 215-736-8055
